I hate the Avs . the best teams in the west are Vancouver, Los Angeles, and San Jose. those three teams are going to upset the big budget Colorado, Dallas, and Detroit. The Eastern conference is a toss up, the top 10 teams are pretty much equal IMO. Philly, New york (both), Washington, Toronto, Ottawa, New Jersey, and Montreal will be in tough competition. Stanley Cup Final: San Jose Sharks Vs. Toronto Maple Leafs (thats my bias opinion ) my unbias opinion would be San Jose Sharks Vs. Washington CapitalsSan Jose Sharks will win it all EDIT:forgot to pick winner Edit: Oct 10, 02

I think the Leafs need Belfour back. They also need Tucker and Domi to do some hittin' and crashin'. yes, that would also help. they also need McCabe back. who hates the theme song for the NHL on TSN, its so cheesy

Damn Leafs, the reason they aren't making any trades or big changes is because of ownership problems . but thats only a small excuse for them not winning, they need to adjust to the rules and quit bitching. half their penalties are unsportsman like conduct or interference

I heard that aswell Jackyl, but that rumor has started to die down after the leafs confirmed that there is ownership problems. It could still be true, but I hope it isn't, Corson is the leafs best shot blocker. Personally I would trade Reichel(sp?) or Hoglund, unless they get someone like Corson (but better) in return for Corson

looks like the Byron Dafoe situation is heating up, Atlanta offered him a contract today and more teams are expected to be more active in acquiring his services (Rangers, Islanders). in the off season I was hoping that the Leafs would sign him instead of Belfour, but I guess that isn't going to happen

The Leafs beat Boston IME?! Good Job if they did!!! yeah 2-0. they actually scored 2 goals in the 3rd period, they haven't done that a lot this year. they usually have good 1st periods and crappy 3rd periods. but of course after they have a good game they don't have another one for 3 days . they have little chance of going on a streak after all that time off. but hopefully Mogilny will get healthy in that time

Terry Sawchuck has 102 or 103 or something around there but he is retired hopefully Belfour can get 45 more in a couple years the leafs could sure benefit from it -_-

Toronto wins. they have shutout back to back games against 2 of the top teams in the east. Belfour is now tied with Roy for the most shutouts (61) among active goalies. whats wrong with Jose Theodore? he sure is showing us that he is a vezina winner good thing the Habs have Hackett to fall back on

Tangauy and Skoula to Boston for McLaren and Lapointe is the latest rumour I heard. The avs are old, Sakic, Foote, Blake, and Roy's best days are behind them. if they are going to be making blockbuster trades it should be with those guys, they aren't going to get any younger with lapointe. all old teams have off years every now and then, just look at Dallas last year, then this year they got fresh new blood and voilla, top of the standings again

re: NHL season 2002-2003

here is quite an interesting rumour I saw on Sportsnet.ca quoteThe daily dose of Kyle McLaren/Martin Lapointe speculations has the pair targeted for Colorado. But is a deal with the New York Rangers a possibility as well?
What might have seemed surprising in Sunday's Toronto Sun has some validity. Sources in New York told Sportsnet the Rangers are interested in moving Eric Lindros and the Boston Bruins are said to be one of at least two teams considering such a move.
What makes a trade to Boston seem unlikely is the Bruins track record for refusing to pay a premium for players. With just three goals in 22 games, Lindros is struggling through the second year of a four-year, $37 million contract. The Los Angeles Kings are the other team entertaining the idea of trading for a centre they historically have coveted. this could be an interesting season for trades.

I am puzzled by the start of this season, it is all messed up. a lot of teams have been struggling, I am suprised there has only been a couple trades so far. I am guessing there will be a lot of action near the half way point of the season and at the deadline if all these big market teams with lots of talent continue to struggle

Dimitri Yushkevich was traded to LA for Jaroslav Bednar and Andreas Lilja. looks like LA won that trade unless those two guys are going to develope into something more than they already are. Vancouver sets a club record winning streak, hopefully they don't end up like calgary last year and blow their streak and miss the playoffs, I am sure they won't though. do you know what sucks? the Leafs play at 1:00 pm (ET)tomorrow, stupid American Thanksgiving now I will miss half the game (unless I skip final period )

it has been working so far, just play whoever is hot, on their own they are not number one goalies, but together they make a nice combination. and if they get something good in return for Mclaren to strengthen their defence, Boston will definately be a strong candidate for the cup

Is it just me, or is Roenick an idiot? why would he hit Modano from behind again? He only got 2 games for repeating an offence he has done in the past and to the same player for christ sakes.
Granato? the avs must see something in him, he hasn't even coached pee-wee before, and he has only 30 something games of assisting experience. If I were the avs I would have tried to make a good trade before making a major decision like firing the best coach in franchise history and hiring a rookie coach
