	But can any of us honestly say his street fights are credible sources for his career? Granted, he's had quite a few good match ups, but the rest... Christ he fought amateurs who had absolutely no business fighting him, nor being in a street fight no less. Point taken, the infamous fight against Dreads. I'm sick of seeing "New king of MMA" headlines all over the place when I sign online (Yahoo, MSN, etc). The man is predictable with his punches and leaves himself wide open. I consider UFC to be the top dog of MMA. Much like my instant favorite Houston Alexander, who appeared to have absolutely no ground skills whatsoever in his last fight, Kimbo hasn't proved himself as an overall MMA fighter. He's still a street fighter who relies on his stand up, street fighting tactics. Of the few fights I've seen where he's taken down (since his "team" always interfere whenever it becomes more MMA-like), he gets winded and pounded on. That's why I'd love to see Kimbo in UFC where he could really be challenged and taken to the next level. -------------------

	He's only done as well as he has so far because the fights have been standup. Get him down on the ground and we'll see how good he's gotten with that training. Until then he's little more than a striker. Former UFC Heavyweight Paul Buentello is calling Kimbo out and wants him after Paul's next fight, 3/29 on the EXC/Strikeforce joint card (opponent TBA). At the very least, Paul's given us an early 2008 line of the year candidate: "He needs to get off that buffet line I put out there and come over to my Paul Buentello taco shop and see if we can get to work." And where might this taco shop be located? I'd try one of those tacos. Funny stuff.

	I'm not saying Kimbo is a bad fighter. If anything I want him to eventually get to the UFC to see what he truly has against top level competition (as in, not crazy, happy, dancing 3-count manager Tank Abbott). I mentioned Kimbo vs. Lesnar because at this time, I think that would be a blast of a fight to watch. ------------------- Finished with the Neoseeker forums.

	CBS has also announced the date for the second live event: July 26. It was revealed as part of CBS's summer schedule today.

	Gotta love this announcement: quote Weekly During a media conference call on Tuesday, EliteXC live events president Gary Shaw announced the intention of creating a women's title later this year, as well as possibly putting together an all women's fight card to air on television in 2009. The conference call is part of the promotion's build-up to its network television debut on May 31 on CBS. "We're talking about doing two things. We're talking about doing a women's title and we're also talking about an all women's show where we feature one night of all women's fights," said Shaw. "That's something that I'd like to present to the public, a night of women's fights. I think that would be a major milestone. I think it would be good for the sport, and good for women." Shaw also confirmed that the first title would be at 140-pounds, although he didn't rule out possibly creating titles for women in different weight classes in the future. He also mentioned the winner of the fight between Gina Carano and Kaitlin Young as one of the likely participants in the first EliteXC women's title bout. "I think we would look to fight the winner of this fight for the title in the fall," Shaw stated. "So we would give the first women's title out sometime in the fall. Other titles will depend on how many different weight classes we end up with." First things first, Carano and Young will fight in a featured bout in the debut edition of CBS-EliteXC Saturday Night Fights on May 31. Can I Get A HELL YEAH?! Now I'm really hoping Gina wins on 5/31.

	Said plans just took a hit. Recent signee Carina Damm has failed a post-fight drug test in California from after a fight in April-Nandrolone. Suspended 1 year and fined $2500, suspension runs through April 2, 2009. She's become the first female fighter to fail a drug test. Breaking news: ProElite President Kelly Perdew has stepped down today. He'll become CEO of rotohog.com. No immediate replacement named. (ProElite is the parent company of EliteXC) Edit: May 16, 08

	With the other things on TV tonight (NHL Finals and the Chuck Liddell special), the EliteXC loses for me. I've never seen the Liddell/Silva fight before and it seems to go head to head with the Kimbo fight (if it's the main event). Rather odd score for a UD. Prelim matches (streamed live on ProElite.com): James Jones beat Calvin Kattar by submission (rear naked choke) at 4:49 of round 1. 	Keeping my eyes away from the spoilers and only going to discuss what I see. Something CBS has done correctly right off the bat, this show seems very professional with the broadcasting, which is something that I could not say the same for with IFL on MyNetwork TV. Decent intro too, but Newark, NJ sucks They name-dropped the UFC within the first couple minutes while introducing Frank Shamrock as a commentator. ------------------- Finished with the Neoseeker forums.
