Splinter cell, or metal gear?

Which do you like better, Splinter Cell series, or metal gear series. I like splinter cell because you can change the camera, the graphics and sound are better, it has more innovation, the controls are much better, it has a better story, it is a true stealth game, and it is just more fun to play.

re: Splinter cell, or metal gear?

Personally I think the Metal Gear series are much better than Splinter Cell. Metal Gear pretty much defined the genre.

SC is a great series in its own rights, but the attention to detail and stories of the MGS series just can't compare with the choppy start and stop storyline of the SC series.

As for the 3D camera, MGS3: Subsistence pretty much solves this problem. In terms of sound, the PS2 version of Chaos Theory does have many issues. All in all, the MGS series just has a much more solid overall production than the SC do on PS2.

Splinter Cell by far. Everyone raves about how good MGS games are, but I think they suck compared to the SC series. SC is much more realistic. I traded in my MGS games.

re: Splinter cell, or metal gear?

I agree. Metal Gear is 'too out there', trying way too hard to 'be different'. It's okay I guess, but Kojima ain't a god. He makes mistakes, and they are certainly apparent in MGS2/3. I mean, cut out 90% of the cheap joke humor, and that ending would have really been something.

Meanwhile, Splinter Cell's busting ass professionally. I'm just irked about not being able to kill a person with a friggin' head shot. I was playing Chaos Theory with my bro, and as uber badass as it was (especially the combo manuevers), headshots would have made it even more pwnable.

I think Metal Gear is better because it has a more interesting story and gameplay.

It depends on what type of stealth you like. If you like the "Less realistic type" go with the MGS series. If you like the "More realstic and tougher type" take splinter cell (Not saying that MGS isn't hard)

True, MGS pioneered the genre, but Kojima's made many mistakes with the storyline and believability since MGS2/S.

The 3rd game was way too full o' holes and too much humor for it to be taken seriously, meanwhile Splinter Cell is staying consistent with what could happen, and also tying in with the rest of the Clancy games (Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six).

re: Splinter cell, or metal gear?

Metal Gear Solid series by far. In Splinter Cell, there are more weapons and gadgets, but it's too annoying for me... I love the game, but it falls to MGS's rich gameplay, graphics, voice acting, and storyline.

Splinter Cell has good cutscene graphics, but the gameplay graphics fail miserably to MGS's gameplay graphics.

MGS has such a great storyline. It keeps you guessing the whole time, and each game ends with a huge bang that either leaves you in a cliffhanger, or it reveals information that solves many questions.

Metal Gear Solid wins by far.

re: Splinter cell, or metal gear?

SPLINTER CELL!!! I own both games, so there's no point in me being biased. Metal Gear has advantages, but it's old gameplay and isn't very realistic to play. I know realism isn't always important, but I mean it in the way that the guards seem totally stupid, the way they disappear when they're dead, the controls and camera are basic, that kind of thing. Splinter cell's guards are the most realisitic guards I've seen. Every reaction seems intelligent, you can't just run around them like in MG. Also, I hate MG's storylines. They don't seem nearly as impressive as people make them out to be.
Remember I own both games, so don't rave at me, saying I'm biased.

re: Splinter cell, or metal gear?

Here are the differences between the games.

The good Points...

MGS, Better frame rate in games, good storylines, great characters, plenty of background about solid snake and other characters in the game.

Splinter Cell, More realistic style to the game, only a few weapons Fisher carrys aroud with him which is real, searchin computers for knowledge ment on enemies.

The Bad Points...

MGS, Unrealistic characters, such as Vamp, Bein able to carry a huge amount of weapons in a bag, which snake doesnt even carry in the first place, a human against a huge machine.

Splinter Cell, Gets boring after a while, no real storyline base don the character of Sam Fisher, Slow frame rate, the whole game when playin seems slow and poor, very simular to Tomb Radier.

Over all i love both games, but MGS wins it out of the two games by far.

re: Splinter cell, or metal gear?

well to be honest OBVIOUSLY splinter cell is better then any game in the metal gear series. Splinter cell is better because the story is more realistic and the gameplay is just way better. And metal gear can get REALLY boring after a while half the game is one big cutscene!! splinter cell is just more original.
