First post: Attacking towns

As you sail toward town, tap space bar to fire salvo at the fort. Soon you won't be able to enter and be given opportunity to attack. Should have about the same number of pirates as soldiers. If you win the land battle you may have to attack again to install a govenor of your choice. I had to hit Havana (320 soldiers) 3x to get new govenor.To have 300 sailors you will need to collect alot of booty as you build up your personel. Try not to attack merchantmen, just run em' down and more sailors will volunteer to join you crew. 'Course you gotta duel with the captain.

Yeah, I found out about that, but i find it quite stupid both things. I like the old system better..

Yeah, i figured that as an idea too - and indians. Have only tried the indians once, but it did not decrease the number of soldiers though. Could imagine the pirates are stronger though - just don't make them win of course, or there will be no gold for you

I found out that there are always 25 ppl wanting to join you when you go into a pirate tavern - at least it happened two times in a row. Not 100% sure that's how it works though, but i believe it is easier to find ppl that wanna join you when visiting a pirate tavern..

Anybody find it a little annoying how slow the city battles are? I mean I am just sitting there waiting for my guys to move one space and sometimes one of them will take his sweet time and I can't move till they are all in place. They could of made it faster IMO.

Actually ShadowJ it's 50 that the amount has to be, you probably just greatly outnumbered them. If either of those prequisites are met, than all you have to do is fight the Fort Captain. Even if you lose your dude escapes.

Is it not possible to attack a town by ship then? Because I remember enjoying this a lot on the old C64 version, but can't seem to do so with this one.

To attack by ship:

If the town has a defense battery in front of it just keep pressing *space* near it and soon enough it will shoot back at you. When it does you will be able to sail into town and will have this pop-up window:

-Leave town
-Sneak into Town
-Attack town (____ pirates vs. ____ soldiers)
