Asked around, somebody thought that it could be the Maple TV doing it, same idea as the Cassandra/Gaga theory, just different target.

With any luck, Chaos will cover up the problem if it's on nexon's side.

Not sure, but Windows 7 Ultimate is really a jump from Windows Vista Home.

Yeah, so I'm not really sure if it'd work. I've seen him work before, and he does an excellent job with everything he does whether it's OS upgrades, virus cleaning, fixing broken screens etc... He offered me a discount for the upgrade but I'm not sure if I want to do it because there's no guarantee that maple will work again.

That kind of problem is almost always coding issues, happened a lot with Zak fights for a while. There's a thread somewhere around here where I was having that problem and looking for solutions, just before/after BB. Best advice I have is brave through it, hope for a ninja fix.

Poked around Google a bit and found this gem, which may help. It says DirectX9 is more or less a requirement, so that could very well be your problem. Maple's gotten rather bloated over the years, so running it takes more effort from your computer as time goes on, so while DirectX8 may have cut it last year, this year could be a different story. However from the many search results it seems like the source of your problem could be pretty much anything, as it's nexon's way of giving you an error report. It's been the effect of everything from firewall blocks to auto-click hacks, from outdated hardware to install problems.

If nothing is working out, you could hit up nexon's Support Ticket service, though it's very likely all you will get in response is "reinstall the game", it's like their default answer for everything.

Also found a thread asking the same question with no posts at all, which I found rather confusing in a humorous way.

Okay so I have a similar situation as SlangX. Except I have windows 7 running on Mac via parallels. I also have it as a partition using bootcamp.


I downloaded the mssetup file from a mirror site and installed it fine. Then I try to play from the website and I get the server check, firewall problem. (no server check, turned my firewall off and still no go). So then I tried the Manual patcher which got me all the way to "Base.wz" and proceeded to freeze for hours. So I tried to play it using game launcher. It goes all the way up to the hack shield loading then nothing. Nothing pops up and I get nothing. I can see it running in the background but I waited like 10 minutes and nothing. I re-installed it and tried to manual patch and it said my patch file is corrupt now. I tried to do this on parallels and on my bootcamp partition. Nothing works. So I'm just at the point I'm going to get the mssetup file from nexon itself not a mirror site since the mirror site as v96 not v104. Anything you can suggest, Lorx?

I would try to get the actual v104 setup file. Patching generally only works when you're within a version or two.
