MK: Deception Adds Boss Power
Series creator confirms GameCube version goodies.

December 23, 2004 - In an interview with Nintendo's monthly magazine Nintendo Power, Mortal Kombat series co-creator Ed Boon confirmed that the GameCube version of Mortal Kombat: Deception will include two additional playable characters: Goro and Shao Kahn.


In the interview, Boon says that the decision to make the two boss characters playable in the GameCube version was made to offset the late release of the title. "People have always wanted to control the boss characters in MK, and now we are giving them the chance to control two of the biggest, baddest bosses from any MK game," said Boon.
Earlier this year, Midway announced that the GameCube version of Mortal Kombat: Deception was cancelled and subsequently only released the online-enabled game for PlayStation 2 and Xbox on October 4, 2004. According to Midway, the decision was made based on the fact that the predecessor, Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, sold 231,000 copies on GameCube, while selling nearly twice and five times as well on the Xbox and PS2. Deception for GameCube was resurrected in August, albeit without online play.

The game is on track for a February 2005 release.

I saw this on IGN.com. I think that's uber sweet. Can anyone get a picture of the bosses? Not from "Deception", but just a picture of them in general.

Oh, yes! They're the awesome ones. Sweet! You guys have online play, so I guess it's even. I bet there'll be a mod that you can play as them, though.

Holy shit ... we can play as Goro?! That's *bleep*ing awesome! I've been waiting years to play as him. Shao Khan sucked to play as in Mortal Kombat 3 (and Ultimate MK3), but he looks extremely badass in that pic from the PS2/Xbox Deception game. Can't wait. Anymore pics from the PS2/Xbox version for us to look at?

Two questions though:

1. Goro died in Deadly Alliance; how'd he come back in Deception?

2. If Shao Khan and Goro are the playable bosses, what happened to the return of the Dragon King? Is he not the final boss then? At the end of Reptile's ending, he is transformed into the Dragon King, so I assumed he would be the boss in Deception. So is Reptile/Dragon King already a playable character?? (*drools if true*)

Just to let u know this is the GC characters they have.I wish they had Goro and Shao Kahn on the PS2/Xbox Version

What is his Fatality? If it isn't this already, I think it would be awesome if he grabbed each limb of an opponent and rips them apart, leaving the body as a bloody stump.
