Action Replay Load Failed help requested

So, I picked up an action replay DSI and installed the Manager on my computer, which runs windows 7 Home Premium. However, I continually get 'Load Failed' when firing it up. I've read the various help files and forum posts and even pestered Datel's tech support.

So far I have...
Updated the AR's drivers
Updated Firmware
Uninstalled and reinstalled the Manager, both from disk and from downloads found on the relevant sites
Turned off the firewall
Added the manager to firewall exceptions
Turned off my virus guard
Added the manager to AVG's exceptions
Plugged my computer directly into the modem, bypassing my router in case some internal firewall was causing the problem.
Played with compatibility and administrative privileges
Screamed obscenities at the computer
Tried that accursed thing regarding running windows xp via virtualization mode
And various combinations of the above.

Is there a simple technique that I've somehow managed to miss? Is there at least a way to add codes via the manager when its refusing to connect(every method I've seen required loading lists off of subscriptions). Is there another program that I can use to interface with my Action Replay?

Any advice would be very welcome.
