Action Replay DS - The Official Guide [Ver. 2] |
|
Because many people ask questions related to the Action Replay DS, I have decided to write this tutorial, to teach you How to install Action Replay DS properly, how to add codes, and how to use Action Replay DS.
Note that this tutorial only covers the info for Action Replay DS, if you have Action Replay DS MAX, sorry, you will have to ask somewhere else. If you have any questions, feel free to ask here, your questions will be answered by people from the community or by myself. Hope you find this useful. Index1. How to install Action Replay DS properly. An alternate shorter guide for this was written by Pr3tzals here. Many people have problems installing the Code Manager to their computers, because sometimes the software won't detect your DS when you connect it. Keep in mind that the code manager only works with Windows XP. It WON'T work with Windows Vista until Codejunkies releases the appropiate drivers. Step 1: Plug your Action Replay DS to any free USB port you have in your computer BEFORE putting in the installation CD.
Now put the installation CD in your computer, and follow the steps that appear in the screen. If you don't know what to do, just do what the pictures are telling you to do. ![]() Step 3: Click next, and when it asks you for the destination folder, leave it there, unless you are an advanced user and you know what you are doing. However, it is recomended for you to leave it there. ![]() Step 4: When you get to the window to rename the folder, ignore it. Just click the checkbox if you DON'T want to create a shortcut in the start menu. ![]() Step 5: In this step, check the checkbox if you WANT to create a shortcut in the desktop. ![]() Step 6: Now you will get a confirmation window with all the features you selected. When you are done, click "install". ![]() Step 7: When the installation is done, only mark the box that says "launch Action Replay Code Manager" and click "finish". ![]() Congratulations! You just installed Action Replay DS properly, and you are ready to add your codes and more! -------------------

2. How to add codes. Many people don't know how to add codes to the Action Replay DS using the Code Manager. I'm going to explain how to do it now. Step 1: Open the Code Manager software, and locate the DS-Cartrige button in the top right corner. When you hover the mouse on it, you will see that it ways "Software Upgrade". Click that button. ![]() Step 2: You will see a pop-up window asking you if you want to upgrade the software. Select yes. ![]() Step 3: When you click yes, your computer will download the latest software from Codejunkies' site. From there, you will see a similar installation window that you saw when you were installing the software. Step 4: When you are done, you have to create "Custom Codelists", to do that, go to where it says "My Codelists", and click the icon that looks like a paper with a green "+" sign. Then drag and drop the games from the "My Subscriptions" to the custom codelist you just created. Now, right-click one of the games in your custom codelist, and select "Add new cheat". ![]() Step 5: When you are adding cheats, you will a see a window like this one: ![]() So just pick a title for your cheat, and add the codes that you can find on many websites. -------------------

Here is the new thread. Remember to ask all your AR related questions.
Please DO NOT PM me to get personal support. I will not reply to PMs regarding the AR, other than just sending the link to this thread. I am not Datel's support center, and this guide is based on my personal knowledge I got that a lot of people have by now. So just post your questions here so anyone can reply, avoid PMs regarding the AR to me. Thanks. ![]() -------------------

I read on the old thread that your ARDS is broken if the touch screen flashes red and blue after entering the game's ID. Is that true? Is there any way to fix it? Or am I stuck purchasing a new one? (This is the second I've bought and it's getting a little irritating.)
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Your AR is not broken really I don't know exactly what this problem is called but I had it and found out how to fix it myself.
Actually I posted in a thread about this problem. Here I will quote myself: quote MakusuI hope this fixes your problem like it did with me. I should probably warn you ahead of time that this will solve the ID not working problem but you will lose all your codes in the process although I do not think there is another way to fix it. -------------------

Thanks. I reseted the thing, but it's still not working. I've tried four games in all, in case it was possible something was wrong with the game, but no such luck. I guess I'm at a bit of a standstill for now.

Dear Vermillion:
Good afternoon from Canada!! I hope this finds you and yours well. First of all, I can't thank you enough for your DS Action Replay Tutorial. It's been a sanity saver. Right now, my progress is a boatload of error messages, but now it's saying, "Listing Contents." Is this good, bad or indifferent? Secondly, I'd like to know how to add new games. I've got two Mega Cases full of games of which I'd love to know the AR Codes, such as both games based on Pirates of the Caribbean. My main problem right now is trying to keep a certain webslinger alive so I can find Venom before I'm the age of Indiana Jones' father! Thirdly, does it matter into which USB port the plug goes? Lastly, how do I restore an accidentally deleted cheat? I accidentally deleted the "All Levels" cheat from LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga. I need that cheat back because the Hoth Battle is driving me up the wall!!! In closing, thank you kindly again for the tutorial. Live long and prosper, take care and thank you kindly!!! Sincerely yours always, Indy.

Dear Vermillion: Good afternoon from Canada!! I hope this finds you and yours well. Vermillion, as good as this guide is, it still the one question I have about all this: How do I get the bloody codes to work? I'm still in the same rut of starting over and over again. It's getting a tad annoying. Live long and prosper, take care and thank you kindly!! Sincerely yours always, Indy.
