OK leave it the master of DS homebrew. Adam, you'll probably want a Slot-2 old school card. My Supercard SD came with 32MB of extra RAM (the DS only has 4MB...) which is a lifesaver in DSLinux. The Slot-1 cards, even though they do have PassMe builtin, cannot play GBA games, and use memory cards that are small and expensive as *bleep*. My SCSD uses a normal SD card. I bought mine with a Japanese Kingston 1GB card from [site that I IMed you]. Also, drunkencoders.com is a good homebrew site with latest releases on the scene. There are others that I can IM you. (they may contain ROMs) You will not risk your DS AT ALL by using homebrew/"games". Nothing, at, all. I flashed my DS, which was like 1% chance of bricking. It makes it easier, as you don't need a PassMe device in Slot-1; it mods the DS firmware to bypass the audit process, and boots directly to your flash cart if it is plugged in. You don't even need to do this, because you'll buy a PassMe device with your cart anyways, depending if you get Slot-1 or Slot-2. The extra $25ish for a PassMe device is only needed if you get a Slot-2 card, but you will be able to play GBA homebrew/"games" on it. Also, DSLinux will be MUCH more powerful wth the extra RAM. I can be connected to 3 irc servers and 5 tabs of websites open on DSLinux without it running slow at all. If you don't have extra RAM, you won't be able to multitask. Etc, you will only be able to browse the net or go on IRC one at a time.
Slot-1 cards are mainly for stupid *bleep*s that don't know how to patch "games", as the Slot-1 cards just have a drag and drop interface. But patching is easy as hell, and I could walk you through it on AIM if needed. If you didn't know, Slot-2 are flash carts that go in the GBA slot, and Slot-1 are the flash carts that go in the DS slot. Reply here if you need any more help.

DSLinux. Buy a GOOD slot-2 SD flash cart with extra RAM. Don't buy the M3 Simply slot-1 or R4 shit. That stuff sucks. And it's what everybody on this forum except me uses.

I want to be able to play Youtube videos on my DS, (Mainly for music) but I am definitely NOT any good with programming or anything like that. Do you just buy a cart here and plug it in and start downloading? Is it simple? What should I download for this purpose?
You can't stream Youtube videos on your DS. But you can play music, and stream Shoutcast radio with DSOrganize. I don't suggest getting that flash card. I recommend a slot-2 Supercard SD like I have, or a slot-1 R4. You have to downlad the homebrew, sometimes you need to patch it.
can i get a little help with these ? am i right in thinking that they are cartridges you can put loads of games on ? if yes can any someone link me to a good one on amazon
and finaly how do you get the games on them once you have bought it?
PM me !
Yes flash cards do hold a removable memory card that is able to hold many games on one cartridge. There are not any good flash cards on Amazon. You won't get help here because we don't talk about using or obtaining ROMs.

Beup probably works on R4. It uses DLDI I'm pretty sure. But I suggest using BitlBee through an IRC client such as irssi on DSLinux. You can be on all of your IM accounts at once, as well as listening to music, chatting on irc, browsing the web, etc.

I dont want to sound like a complete nub but could someone tell me where I can buy a flash cart. (I dont want to get one off the internet)
The internet is about the only place you can get them. You won't be finding them in stores or anything like that because they can be considered illegal. There are plenty of reputable sellers on the internet though, if that's what you're worried about.

No such thing. The only means of screen capturing on the DS is a commercial device given to certain companies only. Maybe not even, it may just be used by Nintendo in press conferences.

I posted that a while ago. There might have been cards back then that supported SDHC that I was unaware of.
@Tainted: I just tried AmplituDS and Still Alive DS. AmplituDS is awesome, but I don't get how to play Still Alive. I started story mode but all I could do was shoot portals that didn't do anything when I walked on them and stuff. How do you play it?
EDIT: Oh, I get it now. You use the shoulder buttons for blue portals and down/B for red portals. Nice.

I don't know about Clash. It's looking pretty good to me at the moment, but after looking at their forums I lost some hope. They are planning on adding 55 characters. There is no way they will add that many, and if they do manage to hack together 55 functional characters, they won't be balanced. The forum is also full of 12 year olds (it seems like) that don't even know proper English.
I wish they would just decide on 10 original characters that will be fairly balanced so that they can actually focus on the gameplay and make it a great fighting game.
Here are some shots I got from my digital camera. The fighting one is blurry and my camera ran out of batteries before I could get a better one.

You can run DSLinux with a slot-1 card, but you'll just have access to one terminal instead of three, and I'm pretty sure the web browser will still run good on a slot-1 card. Wireless is going to be a bitch to setup if you don't know your way around the Linux terminal, but it's possible. If you want to go this route, I'm pretty sure there's a script packaged with DSLinux called 'wnc' that helps set up wireless. Just type wnc in the terminal.
You might also want to try Bunjaloo. It looks pretty good.
In any case, web browsing on DS isn't really worth it, especially without a slot-2 card.
