Hello (new to this forum). Cant say much as im on a work break (I just managed to read this FAQ).
I just wanted to say Thankyou GG, I live in the Uk and so dont hear much about this sort of culture but i'd heard of gackt through a freind and have recenty heard some of his music too, I'd been curious as to what sort of person he is since, especialy since i noticed him in the DoC trailer (Wow).
Thankyou for enlightening me, i cant say much more as Im in a hurry and havent yet finished the game but..I'm seriously impressed with how Square has carried this game off so far (Im near the end and loving it)!

I've never really heard of Gackt since reading an Article about DoC and his name popping up, i think bringing a Well Known face into a game is a great idea, especially FFVII for the pure fact that all the Main Characters have been designed already. Genesis doesn't really look too much like Gackt in the picture of him for Crisis Core though.

I must start this post by saying how much I hate Nomura. He's the one who has made me question my eternal love for FFVII. He's a huge Gackt fan, and models his character's after him. He's also the reason why Gackt is in this game. I hate gackt too. Of course, Japan's pop culture disgusts me as it is, but especially Gackt. He looks like a girl when making public appearances, he makes music adored by emogothgirls and his "I'm a 200 year-old vampire hurrrr durrr" statements annoy me, even if he has already denied it. I dont know if this is a thread to share opinions about Gackt or not, but it certainly IS apropriate to do so. You just got pissed cause he doesnt like what YOU like, get a grip on yourself and dont jump on others like that.

No, you didn't threaten anyone here, but you insulted someone. How would you like it if someone said that if you walkd down an alley, you would get raped? Not very much now would you.

And what makes you think that he bought his way into a FF game? SE has the final say in what is going to be in their games. They used Gackt to make Genesis. They had his songs as the theme songs.The same happened in FFX-2. Koda Kumi sang both real Emotion and 1000 Words and then her career took off. They based Lenne off of her. Big deal. Gackt was already a big artists before DoC. So if that is your reason for not liking him, I'd say you were more jealous than anything.

Hold on a sec! Didn't Tetsuya Nomura confront Gackt because he was a fan??? I don't recall Gackt looking for the part! I have to read up on this more!

And no, I'm seriously not joking. There has to be a reason why you think that he bought his way into a game and that you don't like him for that. I already explained that Gackt didn't buy his way into the game, Nomura asked him to be part of it as far as I know and it has happened before when Koda Kumi sang the theme songs for FFX-2. People say things like "Oh, why is Gackt in there. He looks like a girl." blah blah blah. It isn't just you, I just get tired of hearing crap like that. Usually, when people have a problem with other people doing something, it is because they envy them or are jealous. So that is why I said that.

What I don't get, is if people don't want to see Gackt in DoC, they don't have to collect the G Reports. It's that damn simple. Yes, he is doing the motion capture for Genesis in Crisis Core, and he's also providing his voice... I think? Big deal, when the English version is released, you won't even have to listen to him.

There are so many people who like Gackt, whether they are Japanese or not. He's been active in the music scene for about 13 years, so he knows what he's doing. He's popular enough without appearing in a Final Fantasy game that, quite honestly, didn't do all that well.

Gackt doesn't look like a girl (unless he's trying to XD), but he does look feminine. Unfortunately for all those people who use that as a hate point, he does it to please his primary audience, the female population of Japan. Any Western person who complains about his appearance being "girly" obviously doesn't understand that the way the music market for men like Gackt works over there means it's pretty much a requirment to appear at least slightly feminine.

People say Gackt's music is "crappy pop stuff, it ISN'T rock"... Well, he has 10 successful albums. No, Dirge of Cerberus hasn't made him a shitload more successful, but it has assisted slightly. Either way, he was doing just fine before his minute-long appearance. As for whether it is rock music or not, the specific genre is JRock, which will differ from the so-called "real" rock that Westerners know. Yes, he does pop music as well, but not all pop music is a horribly overdone tune that most people say is terrible before they even hear it. And again, it's JPop, so not the same as what you get from English-speaking countries.

And then there's my opinion. And my opinion is that everyone who thinks their hateful opinion towards Gackt actually matters to his fans is an idiot. Think what you want, but if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. Sharing your opinion is fine, even if in the end, no fan will really care, but there's also a call for common courtesy when you do so.

Well said lady!! If I wasn't for DoC i would never have heard of Gackt so I am more than delighted that he is in it! I cannot get enough of him since!
I love how he looks! Maybe that's just my taste in men but I swear I could look into those eyes forever! I don't care if people think he looks like a girl! That's their problem!
And as for FF boosting his popularity rating that may be true in this side of the world but his a bloody star in Japan! He doesn't need more fame there! And what about Gackt fans who have never played FF! Perhaps they would like to see him as a fictional character in a game!
At the moment I am purchasing his albums. So far I have only 4 but I have imported DVDs also and they are unbelievable!!! I've never seen anyone on this side of the world perform on live stage as well as he does! He makes people cry!!!
No Gackt hater will change how I feel! He is a legend!!!
