Some lack of posting in one of my favourite forums. 'Tis a shame, it is.
I've defeated this game, now twice, although I admit I enjoy the the maps you can play on when you just want some instant action.
Since I've found some success with this, I thought I'd mention this around the forum, and see what people thought. Whenever I play a game, I usually immediately send out a good number of vessels to explore the more immediate region I am part of, while making some destroyers (Defiant class, for example) to keep hold of the main base while they are off a wandering.
I learned early on in the last game about one the best things to remember for this game, and they call this the wave. While troop limitations now exist for this game, you can still build up a good 100 defiants, at least, or double the amount of ventures, and sick them on any base.
The added pressure from these assaults can easily break through defenses, since starbases and turrents can only turn there massive power on one unit at a time. This allows for you to attack hundreds of times each second while the enemy only attacks once.
It also works well for destroying enemy operations, such as dilithium mines and shipyards, early on in the game, where the enemy quickly becomes stagnant and not much of a worry for the rest of the game.
