Well the time has come to kick of this year’s event. As the winner of last year and by tradition I am playing host to the ‘2007 RMXP Neoseeker Christmas Competition.’ Anyway let us all begin

What is the ‘RMXP Neoseeker Christmas Competition’?

This competition is an annually held event that tests the neo-members of this forum in their skill to create a short 20-minute to 2-hour long game around the theme of Christmas. The neo-member with the most interesting, original, enjoyable and related game will win.


What does one win?

Well I’m afraid to say this but I’ll say it quickly before getting your hopes up; there is no materialistic prize. The winner will be given bragging rights to brag about their awesomeness to all.
(Since I was last years winner…. brag, brag, brag, brag, brag, brag, brag.)
The winner as tradition follows will also have the right and privilege to host next year’s event.
(You do not have to it would just be braking tradition.)


What are the rules?

The rules are quite simple and easy. So allow me to rattle them off:
1. The game must be between 20-120 minutes game play. (Main storyline, side quests are optional)
2. All content must be either RTP or originally designed by you. (No flicking through the resources sight)*
3. The game must have some relationship to the theme of Christmas. I do not want to see a pre-made project that has absolutely nothing to do with Christmas.
4. The game must make some form of sense throughout the storyline. No “Arshes lets go beat the Evil Santa” then the next scene is of them fishing and talking about random non-storyline based subjects. **
5. NO PORNOGRAPHY (good to see that’s clear)
6. No battlesystem is required, it does not have to be a traditional rpg
7. Alas be creative.

How do I enter?

To enter you must first state that you are competing by posting a reply in this thread saying something like ‘I am competing’ or ‘sign me up.’ Once enrolled you have till December 20th to hand in your game. Your game must be handed in as an unencrypted project file. (Unencrypted: this is to make sure you aren’t using another person’s scripts and or graphics)



*= A message script may be added however this will not improve your score
**= The storyline may however be done in the style of someone telling it. This is perfectly fine.

I guess I will throw my hat in. I need the break from my main game.

But we can use scripts so long as they are our own? There are just some small edits I have gotten used to, not sure if I could make a gme without them now.

You will not beat me by 1 point this year ulti.. wait... your a judge! WOOT threats are eliminated.

I could try to make a sequel to the n00bslayer Christmas special.

I'll participate. This looks great. I haven't discovered RPG Maker until January so I missed the last one...
Can it have humor in it? Also can I take a screenshot of it and mport it as a picture for special effects?

I'll take part, i will have the time since you posted this quite early, three months is enough even with Collage. I don't think anyone has seen my entries for the comp since i never finished them

TO much time for me. I'll enter, but i probably won't finish with so much time. I'll keep putting it off 'till it's to late.

A few notes:
Other people's music?
RTP recolors/edits/frankensprites?

I suppose i'm not much of a threat to the neo-vets?

I hope that there will be NO points given for custom graphics. T_T
90% of us lack the ability to create graphics, and that would make it an obvious over-advantage to the few who are skilled in that category. Mapping is easy, but creating graphics from scratch really requires a person to devote time, and patience, which so few of us can commit to.

I dunno i'm not going to aim to win but get a nice fun, light-hearted christmas game out for ppl to enjoy winning woul dbe just a perk

Arion, I'd say RTP recolors and frankensprites will qualify as orginal. I think the main thing is not using other people's work with the exception of a message script.

I think you'll be allowed music, we have this debate every year though and again i will say why not allow music but only 5 pieces for example.

I want to know who the hell thought of the pornography idea. Quite frankly, I'm going to fight for the right to have hot coffee mods in my games. If my audience wants porn, I shall use the spriting-powers invested in me to bring it to them.
