well my classmate just bought his Ys: Foliage Ocean in Celceta a few days ago at a local game shop here in hong kong, i'm been watching alot of people in the streets playing this game and i've stood at a few game shops ogling at people playing it so i'm so happy now that i finally get to try this game even though i'm only borrowing it, i have to give him back his PSV by next morning so i'll give you guys a quick rundown of what this game is like, i'm loading his save file though since he beated this himself i have no idea what the story's going on about but i'll update the thread when i can borrow it from him again.
one important thing, adol finally speaks with a voice after 20 years. i'm still getting used to it...

-Memory fragment-
IMPORTANT
basically when you get near a bunch of crates at the entrance of the dungeon,
the screen will start getting fuzzy and sizzling out as if some crazy tv signal is interfering with it, the crates will glow and when you walk towards it and press the trangle button a memory fragment of adol will be briefly shown and captured.
throughout the rest of the game you will collect these memory fragments will will gradually restore adol's memory as well as his fighting capabilities, there are numerous flashbacks depicting Adol's past adventures and the people he's met, aftewhich the memory can be freely accessed and seen again in the menus
this game is a real treat for us chinese YS old-timers, there's so much tributes paid to adol's past in this game, words just cannot express how i feel right now. i mean, even a little wee lad adol and his red hair DAD of all people is in one of the memory fragments in THIS GAME! good GOD!
-adol's tonestone
there's a tonestone with adol's name on it
there's a manual in it, that's all.
-angel's betrayal
the angel エルディール, his wings and hair turns from white to black as he reveals his true form and intention.
i feel so sorry for リーザ, since she's in love with him.
i'm loading to my friend's final ending save now.
-the mask of the sun

the final battle takes place atop of the volcano mountain with all your companions gone,
then you fight [ the false god phantom] . i'm translating his name directly from kanji so i'm probably got his name wrong.
after placing the mask of the sun in the volcano, you'll receive the final memory fragment
[ adventurer ]

the ending...well.... i will never forget it.
i bought the chinese pc version of YS 1&2 eternal back in 2001, so Lilia will always be my heroine, even though the age old debate of whether she is the mother of adol's child comes to a final end with this remake's only cannon ending.
this story of this game is both Dawn of Ys and Mask of the Sun, the story of these 2 older games have been combined into Foilage Ocean in Celceta.
alot of western folks who claims to be be old YS fans are calling this game a remake of dawn of ys while asking about where dogi went. i can't believe this.
in my mind, they're just fake fans to me.
that's like saying
"i am an old fan of the beatles and i know everything about the beatles i've been listening to their songs for many years.
anyways too bad John Lennon retired, now the beatles broke up and they don't have any new songs anymore."
GOOD GOD!
a bit of histroy i've had with the Ys series:
The chinese pc version of YS 1&2 eternal was released in hong kong in 2001
The chinese pc version of Ys 6 the ark of naphistim was also released in hong kong in 2004
which i talked abit about in neoseeker back in 2004, in mml2pc thread.
Ys Oath in Falganna and Ys origin released in hong kong as chinese pc version in 2008
Finally Ys 7 the seventh dragon was released as a chinese pc version in hong kong just a month ago by typhoon games,
in other words....
if the chinese pc version of this Ys: Foliage Ocean in Celceta comes out sometime in the future, you can bet that i'll buy it and post back here.
Falcom may have decided to move on to the PSP platform, but the chinese pc porting companies will never abadon the YS pc heritage
Let's hope it does.
