	I guess it's because ninja fights are always serious and deadly stuff, so realistically someone has to die every once in a while. That's probably MK's excuse. Pretty lame excuse, really. 	Not all of them, but other than that, you're right. However, the ninjas in Naruto aren't exactly realistic themselves. They have magic chakra powers and all that weird stuff. Masashi Kishimoto himself stated that he intentionally made the story different from traditional ninja stories. So I don't see why he had to keep the cliche "lots of people die in battle" aspect. ------------------- Albert Wesker FTW! *My art*

	Well... The Devil Fruits are said to be possessed by demons or somethin'. Aside from that, however, there also seems to be some special chakra-like energy in people that gives them superstrength if they train hard enough (Zolo, Luffy and Sanji, for example), which is indeed unexplained. 	Chakra isn't some magic thingy thought up by the Japs.. "Chakara" was the reason Chinese Medicine was so successful, but which western medicine does not support. Accupuncture and massage all came from that theology, but this isn't IE, so I won't go into too much detail anyhow, for some reason, I see Madara betraying Sasuke later on.. no evidence of course, just a hunch >_< ------------------- Credits to Curse Seal for this awesome banner

Naruto, however unrealistic, still attempts a logical explanation of their powers (combining energies). One Piece just uses a simple "magic fruit" thing.
