EE lan help

hey all, ive been having alot of trouble trying to run EE lan througout my house. the network is not the problem, its the version of EE. on two of my comps its running v1.00.2020. and on the other 2 its running v1.00.713. EVEN though i used the same EE disc for all four computers. how the hell can run v1.00.2020. on the other two? the patches are a hole differnt set of versions (1.4 and 2.0) so that doesnt help

any ideas?

if its installed correctly on all the machines, just copy and paste the contents of the game folder (of the latest version) on all the computers.

Same problem here.

Same problem, Same folder installed on four computers. One laptop will talk to the desktop, the other two say it's a different version.

One laptop is windows 7 basic, it will talk to the XP laptop, but the two windows 7 pro's are incompatible with the first group.

Basically the solution is to try on different OS's and gather OS compatibility intel.

Any data you guys can provide would be useful.

The last solution does not work for me. To get this working, I had to create another damn user on my computer, and install it there.. Somewhere on my machine it says 0713, it has nothing to do with the installing or any of those files..

Hi, we're trying again. This time, me and my friend get 1.0.0.2020, and another friend gets 1.0.0.0713. Last time the three of us tried playing, I was the one with 0713, and both of them had 2020. We changed nothing. This is ridiculous. We tried updating to 2.0.0.0 or something with some files from the official site(first from 1.0.0.0->1.0.4.0 then 1.0.4.0->2.0.0.0). None of these worked(paths were right). We only got lots of error messages while installing them, and when we launched the games, the two of us suddenly had 1.0.0.1824, and the one with 1.0.0.0517. I noticed that all of us had our versions stripped by exactly 196. (2020-196=1824 and 0713-196=0517). This can't be a coincidence. We have exchanged local files multiple times now, they should be 100% identical, but there is some variable making the version flip somehow. I applaud the person who can find the file containing the version. As all three of us have the same version, if we could just simply change the actual integer defining it, there shouldn't be a problem as the files are identical. It THINKS we have different versions. And updating through "Sierra Update"-folder in the gamefolder does not work - the servers are down.

There are some files in the game folder, (sierra.inf and SierraUpdate/zVersion.cfg) which contains the version number, but changing them doesn't alter anything. It would be nice if someone could find out what causes this.

EE has probably been installed before? I had the same problem and installed the game at exactly the same location and that fixed it back to 2020 without anything else to do besides that.
