all it says it that the file is not suitable for running MOSD or something like that... i'm noty too technical so i don't know wut that means... please tell me where i can download the game for free that will work on a Windows XP. I ust to have the game on my old IBM but gave that away... so if you could tell me where to get it i would be really happy...

There is a way to run Windows XP so that programs that were designed for older versions of Windows can still run on it. I can't remember exactly how it works, though. Chip's Challenge works on Windows 3.1, Windows 95, and Windows 98, and possibly other versions of Windows.

Chip's Challenge works on every version of Windows with virtually no modifications. It runs fine on Windows 1.0 - 98, NT, 2000, Me, all those ones that came before XP. Then on XP, it runs with the classic title bar. Vista is the only one with a real problem; it seems any game in the WEP has an issue with sound effects. You can leave bg music on, but sound effects will make the game pause a second when you step on something. But the game is easily playable without the sounds, so you should be fine.
