Fair enough, sounds like the part of the mono-type challenge but has limitations on it due to the starters. Can you catch a Pokémon if it isn't any of the primary types, but evolves into it i.e Eevee (actually I think that's the only Pokémon). And when you mean by one type you literally mean one type, so no dual types? If so, what about the starter Pokémon when it fully evolves, since many are dual types?

My idea here was based on the Primary types of Pokemon, so it doesn't matter what the secondary types are - if any. So, in a way, you technically can have more than one type so long as the primary type remains as the same.

Like in the Nuzlocke which isn't a problem since it makes it more challenging.

Hmm okay, still like the Nuzlocke but this could make it hard since there is a type restriction too. In some games it will be okay, but like what squiggle bath pointed out, it will be hard in D/P with Chimchar as the only Fire type you can catch is Ponyta. Are we able to obtain Pokémon other ways, like through breeding (so having the same species of Pokémon as well) or trading?

I hadn't thought about that. It does make sense for games like D/P to be able to breed or trade. I think both would be acceptable.

I can see why you're reconsidering this one. It makes things a bit too difficult, perhaps having it optional since people do like a good challenge?

Yeah, that's a good idea that hadn't crossed my mind. The implementation of that rule doesn't really make sense, so making it optional does seem like the best way to go.

Makes sense since legendaries can be overpowered sometimes haha.

Sooo... if i start with Piplup, I can't use Bibarel because water is its secondary typing?

I've gotta be honest, with the sheer limitations (especially with fire types) in DPPt, I see no appeal, especially if my first statement is true.
