In case anyone doesn't feel like reading the whole thing in one go, I've decided to put a summary up, I'd still recommend reading all the rules though
Goal of Game: Defeat the opponents armies and be the last one standing, or be the last alliance standing Things to do in turn: - Get reinforcements - State which pokemon defend your base - State which pokemon attack which enemy Things to keep in mind - Mercenary can only be purchased during the first round of the game, after that you must bid for it if you wish to obtain it during each round
Starting price is 100 coins, every turn you have the mercenary you have to pay 100 coins
Special units can only be obtained through the mercenary
If not bought during the first round the mercenary can not be used during the game
Other players can bid the mercenary away from you after you have it, however you are guaranteed one turn with the mercenary after you obtain it
- Alliances can be discussed on the thread, but can be formed only through PM with the host
Rules: Each side has one Bisharp which is in charge of an army of Pawniard. There are different types of Pawniard with different roles and abilities, however, they all have one thing in common, they must defend the Bisharp!
What do I do in my turn?: Each team has 2 days to complete all aspects of the turn, there is no set order of who goes when, as nothing gets calculated as to what happens until after everyone has finished their turn, therefore you can complete your turn at any time within those two days. All planning unless specified in the rules should be done on the thread.
Things to do in your turn:
1. Get Reinforcements At the start of each round each team gains 300 coins. These are automatically tallied onto your stock of gold and can be used to buy reinforcements.
The only time you're allowed to buy reinforcements, is at the start of your turn. It must be the first thing you do or else you will receive no reinforcements
A list of what each player can buy will be in the army section
2. Set up Defenses Each player is able to assign their troops to defend their "base". You can further specify how they defend by giving a defend priority.
To do this just give numbers beside the troop that you've declared to be defending. The smallest number going up will be the order of defend priority. Eg, Number 1 will be the first to defend from on-coming attackers, then 2, then 3 and so on.
If you do not place a defend priority then it will be in order of weakest to strongest that defend the base
Any troops that are not assigned to anything in particular will automatically be placed as defending the base
3. Set up Offenses In order to attack another player you must specify which pawniard are attacking which base.
When attacking you may place attack priority by putting numbers beside each troop that you want to be given priority over the others to attack.
The priority will be given from the smallest number starting at 1 going up just like with the defense priority
If no one is given an attack priority then priority will be given starting from the strongest going down to the weakest.
How is damage calculated?: When a member of your troop encounters a member of an enemy troop, the one with the highest health wins and the one with the least health dies.
However, when your soldier wins a battle it sustains damage.
The winning soldier loses hearts equal to what the opponants hearts was
EG.
Soldier| x4 VSElite Guard| Hearts x6
The Elite Guard wins the battle with 2 Hearts remaining
So there is no confusion on what a post should look like, I will give an example of what it should look like. There's no need for the images like my example, I just like them cos they make the post a little less bland
(Note: Notice I've got the numbers there for the defense priority, they're not in order of number because they don't have to be, they just need to have the numbers there if you want a defense priority)
Offenses Attacking Player: Blue
Spoiler:Soldier x 1
Soldier| x4
Attacking Player: Orange
Spoiler:Soldier x 2
Soldier| x4 Soldier| x4
(Note: With both these attacking parties I have left out any priority. My reason for this is that I saw no need to do so this turn as they all had the same strength) Rules Summary ♣ Rules ♣ Example Post ♣ FAQs/More Rules/Alliances ♣ Raised Questions ♣ army section ♣ Teams Available ♣ Current Players ♣ Result Templates When a Player Defeats Another Player: The player that defeats another players Bisharp takes control of the base they just defeated. That player then gains (for the new base) a Bisharp with 8 hearts, 2 Pawniard and 2 Elite Guard, as well as whatever coins the defeated team had in addition to 300 coins. All of this stays with the newly acquired base, and that base acts separately from any other bases the victor has. In short the victor gains a second team to control, and neither team controlled by that player can be used to give resources or army from one team to the other. So the teams can be distinguished, they will keep the colour they originally had. In order to be taken out of the game a Player must be defeated both in their original team and any other teams they have acquired from other players. A player can gain as many bases as he/she defeats.
Spoiler:More Rules/Alliances/FAQs
I've done everything, now what?:
Once you've done everything in your turn the only thing you have to do is wait for the next turn. During that time however you can talk with the other people on the thread as long as it's relevant to the game.
Although you're allowed to comment on anothers turn, you're not allowed to help anyone else in the game by telling them how to play unless you are allied with them.
I'd like to ally another team: This can be done by PMing the host. Make sure you invite the other team to the PM as well, only once the host is told personally by both teams in the PM will the host grant an alliance.
However an alliance is not automatic, if the other team is already in an alliance with another side the host may decide to post-pone an alliance unless another team wants to have a three way alliance as well.
You may discuss making an alliance on the thread if you wish, however the request must then be taken to PM to be final. In the event that you want a three way alliance that has been refused you may use the thread to suggest to others to request a second three way alliance.
If the host changes their mind to decline an allinace the appropriate teams will be notified and given the option as to whether they still want an alliance.
Can I be in two separate alliances?: Simple answer, no.
No player will be allowed to be any amount of separate alliances above the number of 1. The reason for this is that if one player made a separate alliance with every player then they would gain immunity.
If anyone has played Age of Empires in a multiplayer, then I'm sure you'll agree with it being annoying when you need help and your ally is allied with every single enemy.
Is there anything special that an alliance gets?: The only advantage to an alliance is that if only those in the alliance is left, then those players in the alliance all win. In other words, you have one less enemy to kill, and a player to watch your back.
Raised Questions Here are all the questions been asked by people about the game so far. Feel free to read through them, they may answer any questions you have about the game
quote
Can I be given an estimation of how long a game might last? Because I might not be able to play the game completely... although the game looks really interesting.
I can't really say until we've completed the game as it all depends on how much people attack and defend as to how long it goes on for. If you want you can start the game, and if you feel you need to stop I'll take you out of the game at that point, or else someone can take over from you.
quote
May I ask though, do I have to wait for the next round to be able to buy the Mercenary?
During the next round (2nd Round) onwards the mercenary will be auctioned for. The highest bidder at the end of each round (from round 2 onwards) gets the mercenary for the turn after.
For example.
In round two in addition to everyone having their turns they can also post their bids for the mercenary, Everyone will be able to post as many bids as they want until the rounds over, the last person to post the biggest bid will get the mercenary in round 3. The same will happen in round 3 with the winner of the bidding having the mercenary in round 4 and so on.
quote
Do I only get one attack per round and do I choose who to attack yet?
you can attack as much as you want within any of the rounds including the first as long as you have something to attack with. But each soldier in your army can only go to attack once in your turn.
For example.
Say I had 4 Pawniard, 1 A team, and 2 Elite Guard
If I wanted to send 3 Pawniard and 2 elite guard to attack black, then those troops would be unable to do anything else until the next round (if they survived) as they would be attacking black. But I'd still have my 1 Pawniard and A team left to attack any other team or to defend the base if I wanted.
So yes, you're welcome to attack someone in this round.
quote
One last question, if someone posted his/her attacks/defenses/reinforcements bought then decided to edit it before the given time, would that be fine?
good question, for now I'll allow people to add on to what they've posted, but not to change what they've previously posted (excluding spelling mistakes of course).
I'd prefer any add ons once you've posted to be in a separate post so I can see what you've decided to add.
quote
Do alliances stay as a secret or will you announce it?
For the moment they'll be in the OP, I won't be making a fuss of it, but when I post the next round I will have alliances grouped, so people will know there's alliances in play. I may decide to change whether alliances are re-veiled later on, but most likely I'll keep them on the OP.
Spoiler:Long answer and question
quote
Hi, I didn't want to point this out via thread, because it would look a bit tacky, but your math for some teams and how many hearts they would have is off.
Green and Red are both 62.
I didn't know if you knew this or not, but I just wanted to clarify that in a way where you wouldn't be embarrassed for an error .
Thankyou for your consideration in making this a PM
I decided to re-check all the hearts, as I was sure when I first made this in January I had made it all even. So to make sure you see why I made the teams with the amount of hearts they have, I'll write down each teams hearts.
If you feel I've miscalculated, feel free to PM how you calculated the hearts so I can see how you got your number
yellow team - 6 pawniard
4x6 = 24
- 6 Elite Guard
6x6 = 36
Bisharp = 60
Total = 24 + 36 + 60 = 120
Green Team - 2 pawniard
4x2 = 8
- 9 elite guard
6x9 = 54
Bisharp = 58
Total = 8 + 54 + 58 = 120
Red Team - 14 Pawniard
4x14 = 56
- 1 Elite Guard
6x1 = 6
Bisharp = 58
Total = 56 + 6 + 58 = 120
Blue Team - A Team
40x1 = 40
- 2 Elite Guard
6x2 = 12
- 2 Pawniard
4x2 = 8
Biisharp = 60
Total = 40 + 12 + 8 + 60 = 120
Orange Team - Watch Tower
2x1 = 2
- 6 Elite Guard
6x6 = 36
- 6 Pawniard
4x6 = 24
Bisharp = 58
Total = 2 + 36 + 24 + 58 = 120
The other teams are then repeats of the ones above
Looking through the calculations, I think I know where you got your numbers from, if you're only looking at the army, then yes the numbers do vary, but that was compensated deliberately with the Bisharps health, so that including the Bisharps health everyone gets a total of 120 hearts. This was mainly so the teams could be varied a bit rather then being exactly the same and to see if anyone is able to use some strategy with the team they choose
The following is the teams army totals
Yellow = 60 | Bisharp 60 Green = 62 | Bisharp 58 Red = 62 | Bisharp 58 Blue = 60 | Bisharp 60 Orange = 62 | Bisharp 58
As you can see the armies with 2 more hearts, have 2 less hearts on the bisharp. So if there were only 2 players, and each sent their entire army to the other base, in theory the Bisharp with a larger army if we were to go heart for heart, would die first as there would be no defence at either base (although I haven't actually bothered calculating that).
But if the Bisharp with the bigger army kept all of its forces at the base, then it would win against any of the armies with the more Bisharp health that attacked its base and have a few left to attack the enemies Bisharps.
So really, the bigger armies have the advantage of numbers, but the smaller armies have the advantage of the Bisharps greater health.
This is where the strategy comes in, each team needs to carefully think out how much of their resources they are willing to use to weaken the enemy, and how much to defend, too little and they won't get to the bisharp, too much and they risk exposing themselves.
The mercenary unit is also a valuable tool to consider as it both puts a strain on a teams resources (depending on how much they spend on it) and it also gives them an added advantage over every other team as they will have units no other team has access to in addition to the ordinary units
Where can I give feedback about this game?: On this thread is fine as long as it's only one or two posts, otherwise drop a PM to the current host.
Description: A little stronger than your average Pawniard
The 'A' Team| Only one per game per team | Costs 400 | Hearts x40 ~ Can be split off into 4 pawniards, each with equal hearts rounded down
Description: A set of four really strong Pawniard.
Watch Tower| Costs 700 | Hearts x2
Description: This Pawniard keeps a look out for danger. Only one per game per team. Deals 1 damage to all on coming attackers.
Automatically is the last to defend or attack unless given priority, this in no way effects the 1 damage dealt to on-coming attackers.
SPECIAL UNITS
Each round whoever is in charge of the mercenary is allowed to pick one special unit to use on that turn, it then disappears once the turn is over unless specified.
The unit picked while in charge of the mercenary MUST be used on that turn
Mercenary| Costs 100+ | Hearts Cannot fight, defend, nor be killed, therefore it has none
Description: Only one per game, and has to be bought from the host in the first round to be in play. But beware! A opponant can buy it back by bidding higher.
How to obtain: Starts at 100 gold, after it's bought it's highest bidder per round. Bidding starts on the second round. The mercenary only changes hands at the end of each round. Therefore if you won the bid in round 3 you can use the mercenary from round 4. All bidding money is given to the mercenary. (No one gains money from the mercenary, they can only give money to it)
Only the highest bidder will have to pay anything, so if you lose the bid you keep your money from that bid
If no one bids for the mercenary, then it stays with the current holder of the mercenary and they will have to pay 100 gold to the mercenary to keep the mercenary on their team.
You MUST have the mercenary in your possession to gain access to any of the following special units
Assassin| Hearts: x6
Description: Able to sneak through player defenses. Assassins can only be opposed by the defending player when a watch tower is in play at the base being targeted. Therefore this is useful in the first round or so.
Once the assassin is sent, it goes through a two phase routine:
Phase 1: In the first round it sneaks through defenses. Nothing happens, if there is a watch tower then the assassin will attack the defending pawniard.
Phase 2: In the second round the Assassin will attack the defending Bisharp for 6 damage. The Bisharp is unable to defend or attack the Assassin.
Every round from phase 2 onwards the assassin will repeat the second phase.
Charizard| Hearts: Not Applicable
Description: This flying dragon can go straight to your opponants Bisharp, if there is no watch tower it halfs the health of all defending pawniard. It then returns to your base in 2 turns to half your own pawniards health unless you have an Altaria at your base.
If there is a watch tower at the enemies base it attacks the Bisharp for 2 damage and dies from the watch tower so you won't have to worry about it attacking you later.
Flygon| Hearts: Not Applicable
Description: This dragon whips up a sandstorm that prevents anyone from attacking you for two turns. Only one available per team per game. During a sandstorm only half of your troops can attack.
Note: Flygons' ability overrides all other special units abilities as well.
Salamence| Hearts: Not Applicable
Description: Steals half the gold from any team or alliance to be added to your own pile of gold. If you're in an alliance the stolen gold gets shared between your alliance.
Can only be used every 6 turns no matter who last used it. There will be an announcement when it is available to use. Once it is available to use it will stay that way until the turn it is used, and then it will be unavailable to use for another 6 turns (the turn ratio may change if it is too long or not long enough)
Altaria| Hearts: x6
Description: this dragon acts as a sentry guard and a general to your army. There can only be one in play at any one time. You use it as if it was a pawniard. Therefore it stays with you until it runs out of hearts
When it is in your attacking army all your pawniard receive +1 health, but Altaria then loses one health each time it goes with the attacking army.
If Altaria is in your attacking party then it will allow your army to attack a player who is using a Flygon.
If it is left at your base then it stops Charizard and Salamence from affecting your army, but also dies in the process of stopping them.
Aggron and its Lairon helpers| Hearts x12
Description: Your own personal bodyguard. It stays around until defeated. It regains 4 health each turn. Only one per team and per alliance. If you're in an alliance the hearts gets shared equally between the teams and it guards all of those in the alliance.
Reserved Players These are the players reserved for the next game. Those with a asterisk next to them are already in the current game. So to give others a chance to join as well, I won't be accepting more then 5 people from the current game onto the reserve list for the next game. If however 24 hrs after the game is finished there are still spots left to be filled, anyone from the recently finished game will then be allowed to join before the next game starts
