Brothers In Arms General Discussion Thread v 2.0

quote DrFred
Another Robotech fan, eh? Always good to meet someone else with good taste. Actually Entity (a neoseeker admin) is a huge Robotech fan as well, although he isn't active in the forums like he used to be.

Anyway, yeah, I'd be willing to allow you to set up a game-related GD, but as the thread creator I'd task you to try to steer the conversation so that it remains on topic. To clearify, I'm not talking about memberating, I'm saying that I'd ask you to try to try to bring the conversation back to the game if it drifts off. Y'know, that sort of thing. Also, I don't want to see a huge amount of PPD coming out of the GD thread. If you two start burning through thread after thread of GD, it's going to be hard to justify the thread when two people are are pumping out a 30 page GD every couple of weeks.

Also, on a related note, I realize that right now you and RedFox are the only two members there, but if you really want to continue discussing the game eventually you're going to need to consider drawing in more members as well. Make sure you try creative advertising like putting a like in your sig and all that as well.

Good luck and have fun,
DrFred ~ PS2 Action & Arcade
That is the PM from Moderator DrFred when I asked him about creating a new General Discussion Thread here, so please listen.

Anyways I suppose I'll start off with one question... Who is going to get this game, and why?

I am going to get it, but not on the opening day. I hope to get it because it looks a lot different than any other World War II game out in the market currently.

So here is the new General Discussion. Keeping it related to Brothers In Arms is necessary, so please try.

Note to RedFoxBandit (all other users please disregard)- I guess we need to stop posting as often in here. I'm not going to be checking in here as often as usual. Until other people arrive, I guess this is just going to be sort of a dead forum... Oh well Christmas will keep us occuppied. And about the issue with the scarceness of users here, I'm going to try to add a link in my Signature like you did. And if you could give me a link to a free banner hosting site that would be great, because the banner I have involes this game.

re: Brothers In Arms General Discussion Thread v 2.0

Thanks for the hosting site RFB. I just noticed this new picture at the Brothers In Arms Forum Home Page. For those of you too impatient to click on the link, here it is:

Banner by TimberWolf

This picture, in my guess, is suggesting that this game is emotion-based shooter. The kind like Medal of Honor (Hey, same producers! What a coincedence!). But I do admit, Medal of Honor: Frontline Opening Sequence was really feeling-driven. From the minute you hit the water to the minute you get the bangelores- the D-Day invasion level is very long and very, very well-made. I hope the D-Day drop level will be a lot like the D-Day Invasion on Medal of Honor: Frontline. The Video from RedFoxBandit is in the forum here if you want to see it. My opinion on it is there as well as RFB's.

If anyone else has a comment on this new picture here at the Neoseeker forums, please- feel free to express your opinions on it, or anything about this game, here.

Yeah I agree...
The title isn't 'Brothers in Arms' for nothing. In the army soldiers get a really strong friendship wich you can compare to brothers... 'Brotherhood'.
I think the game's story will about those men getting to know each other and just getting a really good friendship. A brotherhood. And cuz they wanna survive together, they'll have to protect an help each other. That's why the title is brothers in arms I think. And that also explains the 'feeling driven' thingy IBhunter was talking about

Yeah and also the hardships they go through. Not only the conditions they live under (constant moving, hard to find good places to sleep, basically bad living conditions) but also the fact that they feared some of them might die. And on the other hand, they have to accept the reality that some of them have died and many more will probably die. Truly, that would motivate me to distance myselves from the others... that way it wouldn't hurt so bad... is that being self-centered? Of course, you are always with them so it would be hard to accomplish that anyway.

Places to sleep? I wouldn't sleep man! I would just huddle in a fetal position in a corner and keep my gun no more than 2 inches away from me at all times if I was in their situation.

re: Brothers In Arms General Discussion Thread v 2.0

2 inches away?! That would practically be in your hand. If you slept with your squad and traded watches and all that stuff... well all you'd need is your Colt .45 semi-automatic and you'd be good to go for sleep. Of course... you might not be able to with all the noise. But I'm sure there were a lot of quiet moments in World War II. And of course- there was a fair share of loud ones!

Also I was thinking about pre-ordering this game. But then again- I think it might be better to simply wait for it to be in stores. Is anyone here going to pre-order this?

I think It'd be nice if you could march for a short period of time and see vehicles moving. But, damn, I don't know what I'd wanna do first, I'd play multiplayer all day. this is the kind of game you play till you beat no matter what

re: Brothers In Arms General Discussion Thread v 2.0

Yeah even on Single Player I always beat the SP version before trying the MP one. I really hope the SP is long (somewhere around 16 levels, but it all depends on quality/length of each level). Plus since this is strategy-shooter based- even with SP you still have a whole lot of reply value with it. This game's SP sounds better than the MP (only 2 players at once on each team but hey some people like MP no matter what) so I expect to play through the campaign about 2-3 times (on different difficulty levels). I really hope they make some more squad shooting WWII games- I swear FPSs gets all the attention.

You bet your ass this is an emotional based shooter. Private Legget, your radio operator, actually survives most of your missions until one - where it is scripted - that he dies right before your eyes.

Emotional indeed, after you get to know him and his personality from the last 7 missions or what not.

I read that the game has "more than 14 levels". Man do I hate it when people say that- that could be infite! That could be 14.0000001! Anyone want to enlighten me on the exact number of missions and the average length?

IGN said the levels are pretty long, but that they have about 2-3 save points spread out in them.

The first 3 or 4 missions are really short. They're sort of like a tutorial and only take about 10-15 minutes each. The rest of the missions took me about 30-45 minutes each. I'm on the last mission right now and so far I've put about 11-12 hours into the game.

Yeah, a game that needs this level of tactics to win really needs a tutorial. and If it takes you 35-40 minutes, just imagine how long it would take me .

Brothers in Arms forum says...21 missions. About 1 hour each, save the first few.
