Inam nodded to Mega, who prepared himself. Inam closed his eyes, and cleared his mind, thinking only of one person: Gargantuan. He remembered the bravery that was instilled in him every time Gargantuan made a heroic move, how much he wanted to be like him. His eyes suddenly opened, as he felt energy surge through him that made him feel stronger than ever.

"Stand back."

Mega suddenly leapt high into the air, and as he came down, Inam reared back. He caught Mega in his right hand, and then threw him full speed at the Final Mech. As he was about to impact with the field of electricity, his body became completely transparent, passing through the field. The interference from the field still blurred his vision, though, and he could just barely see where he was going. For a split second, he rematerialized, grabbing someone and phasing out again. They passed through the next wall, and the rematerialized again, hitting the floor hard. Mega slowly rose to his feet, rubbing his eyes, and checking his injuries. He let out a deep breath, and looked down at who he had rescued: X.

"X! C'mon, get up!"

He brought X weakily to his feet, and sat him down at the opposite wall.

"Alright, you need to stay here. I'm going to get Jeran."

"But-!"

Mega shook his ehad.

"I'll be fine. I'll be back in a minute with Jeran in tow."

He became intangible again, his wings extending from his back. He leapt into the air, sailing through the wall.... and right at the Final Mech. The Final Mech, Set now in control, quickly whispered an ancient chant, which materialized Mega right into the electrical field. He was shocked violently, which froze him in the air long enough for the Final Mech to grab him and throw him through the floor, which sent him plummeting through the floors below as well. The Final Mech's left arm then quickly turned into a plasma cannon, that unleashed a particle beam into the hole through the floors after Mega. His eyes widened as he fell, the beam nearing him. The Hunters gasped in shock as an explosion errupted, making the room shake. The Final Mech laughed maniacally.

"FOOLS!! You really thought a plan like that was going to work?!!"

Inam took a deep breath, stepping forward.

"Star..."

Star looked over at him, and saw the look on his face.

"I'm gonna go in. all I have to do is copy Mega's ability, and I'll be in and out of there with jeran in no time..."

He took another step forward, bracing himself.

Inam took a deep breath, staring at the floor as the Hunters tried to find a new strategy. He glanced at the four Hunters who were about to search for Mega: Leon, Tempest, Vortex, and Kenyamna. He let out the breath, looking at the Hunters that were left. Alia and X were surrounded by Set clones, and the rest of the Hunters were panicking: save X and Alia, or Jeran? He stared at the floor again, unsure of what to do. He closed his eyes, trying to think of something. Moments passed.... and he could still think of nothing. He opened his eyes, and looked back. All he could see now was one person: Star. It was then, he realized: He had to do it. He had to do everything in his pwoer to make sure that they won this battle, and that Star would be able to enjoy a new era... an era of peace. He took, a deep breath, and looked at Set. Set saw the fire in Inam's eyes, and his own demonic eyes glimmered. He then whispered words only audible to Inam, who was the only Hunter watching Set himself.

"Come at me."

Inam nodded, and closed his eyes, focusing on his friend in Set's clutches. He then ran forward at high speeds, surprising the other Hunters. Sarada lurched forward to stop him, but Alpheon quickly grabbed her and pulled her back.

"INAM!" she screamed,"PLEASE! PLEASE DON'T DO IT!!!"

But her pleas fell unheard. Star's eyes widened, watching as Inam sped toward Set. Inam leapt up, becoming transparent and passing through the electric field.

"That useless trick again? Haven't you learned by now?!!"

Set chanted, and Inam became solid once again. Then, as Set went to attack, Inam quickly materialized Jeran's shield, protecting him from Set's initial hit.

"WHAT?!!"

Then, quickly focusing on Axl, he formed a pistol in his free hand, and from behind the shield, fired hundreds of bullets at Set, while sailing trhough the air toward Jeran. A tentacle quickly extended out, reaching past the shield and knocking the pistol from Inam's hand. Inam then quickly began to form Star's Tengen Enjeru, but as he materialized the first blade on the weapon, More tentacles shot out, impaling the shield and shattering the blade. The tentacles tossed the shield away, but by the time Set focused back on Inam, he had already wrapped his left arm around Jeran. Then, swinging around and releasing Jeran from the tentacles, Inam whipped around, X's buster materialized onto his right hand.

"Call it payback from a friend!!"

Inam then launched a charged shot right into Set, the shot crashing into him and sending him flying through the wall into the next room. The electrical field shocked Inam violently one last time before dissipating, and because set's concentration had been broken, the clones melted into nothingness. The Hunters rejoiced, but Star's and Sarada's faces shifted to shock as the watched Inam hit the floor, hard. Jeran, released from Inam, rolled across the floor, breathing heavily. Inam lay here, motionless, on the floor.

Meanwhile....

Leon's group finally reached the floor where Mega supposedly fell when the blast impacted. They searched the room solemnly, finding no sign of their friend. Only a large crater in the middle of the room. Finally, a voice rang out through the room.

"Guys! Look at this!" Leon called.

Kenyamna, Vortex, and Tempest quickly leapt into the deep crater in the middle of the room, where Leon had called them. In it, they found Leon, on his knees, a forlorn look on his face. The group looked at him, concerned, and he turned to show them what he had found: Mega's broken and battered helmet. The group, shocked at this new development, stood in stunned silence.

Meanwhile.....

Set slowly rose to his feet in the room opposite the room the Hunters residing in, smirking.

"That was clever. Have to give the boy that."

He switched over the Sigma, who was not happy one little bit.

"We will not be giving that blaster Hunter anything!! We shall now return to that room, and finish them off once and for all!"

It switched over to Set, rolling his eyes.

"And how do you propose we do that, huh?"

Sigma quickly took over.

"We will simply finish them off as we did that annoying Hunter Mega!"

Suddenly, a voice caught their attention from behind.

"Really....? You.... ungh..... really.... did that...?"

The Final Mech quickly whipped around, spotting a battered Mega rising up through the floor.

"I-Impossible! Set destroyed you!!!"

Mega weakily smiled.

"... Boo."

Sigma's face became filled with anger.

"Well, no matter. I will fix his mistake here and now!!"

The Final Mech lunged forward at Mega, who was still bloody and recovering from the blast. He mustered up enough energy to quickly become intangible, letting Sigma pass right through him. As Sigma hit the floor, Mega became solid again and fell to his knees, breathing heavily. Sigma rose to his feet, smirking, and looked back at Mega.

"You fool. Did you really think you'd accomplish anything by coming back to face us in that condition?"

He laughed maniacally. Mega let out a cough, blood spilling to the floor, and closed his eyes, tuning out Sigma's evil laughter. He focused, and then slowly opened his eyes, which were now glowing.

"SOLDIER Program Activated. Target Aquired. Mission Accepted. Objective: Bring this to an End."

Sigma's grin was quickly wiped off his face as Mega turned to face him, now standing. Mega's wings extended fully, as he rose into the air.

"Wh-What are you doing?!!!!" Sigma roared, a hint of fear in his voice.

Mega slowly became intangible, still watching Sigma.

"ST-STOP! GET AWAY FROM ME!!!!"

Mega suddenly flew forward, full speed, and rammed into the Final Mech, quickly entering it and disappearing. Deep inside the Final Mech, the spirit of Mega ripped the joined spirits of Set and Sigma apart, splitting the evil lords from each other. Outside, an explosion occured in the room, the Final Mech exploding into billions of pieces. As some of the smoke cleared, Set and Sigma stood, facing each other, breathing heavily.

"F-Finally..." Sigma hoarsely whispered.

"..... I'm split from you....." Set finished.

And lying in the rubble and ruins of the Final Mech lay Mega, unconscious and hidden from plain sight.

OOC: Hopefully that makes up for my lack of posting.

"Finally!" bellowed Sigma, facing his old rival Set. "A chance to destroy you, once and for all!"

Sigma started towards Set, but Set held up his hands to ask Sigma to stop advancing.

"What do you want?" demanded Sigma. "Let's fight!"

"Aren't you forgetting something?" asked Set. He gestured towards the room with the hunters. "We've still got THEM to deal with."

"The hunters?" asked Sigma. "Don't make me laugh. They're nothing!"

"Really?" Set answered. "If they're so weak, how were they able to defeat Segmat? Remember, the 'ultimate evil'?"

"Well..." said Sigma, thinking. "Obviously that was YOUR fault!"

"And what about the Final Mech?" continued Set. "We both had control over that, yet that little brat of a hunter exploded it."

"I see your point, Set," said Sigma, thinking. "As much as I'd like to rip you to shreds, we have to defeat them first."

"Believe me, the feeling is mutual," agreed Set. "But whichever of us wins, the other would be beaten by the hunters. If we work together, nobody can stop us!"

"And then we can settle the score," nodded Sigma. "So it's agreed! We'll form an alliance."

"An unstoppable alliance," added Set, extending his hand. "To kill every hunter, and win the battle once and for all!"

Sigma grabbed Set's hand and shook it hard, in a vice grip.

"Don't you dare think of double crossing me again," growled Sigma.

"Don't worry," Set assured him. "Watch this."

With lightning speed, Set was gone. In an instant, he had returned, clutching a writing figure behind him.

"Who's that?" asked Sigma.

Set brought the figure from behind his back. It was Kenyanma!

"Let me go, you piece of crap!" yelled Kenyanma.

"While his friends were busy removing some rubble, it was easy to snatch up this little hunter," said Set.

"Ah," smiled Sigma, pointing a finger at Kenyamna. "You're lucky. You're the first victim of the ultimate team."

Kenyamna's eyes widened. "I won't let you!" He struggled to no avail. Set held his arms tight.

"Do it, my friend," Set smirked.

Sigma reared back his powerful fist, and planted a hard shot into Kenyamna's stomach. The hunter went unconscious from the pain, the punch rupturing his insides. But Sigma wasn't done. He sent a series of punches into Kenyamna's midsection, alternating rights and lefts, harder and harder until he had punched the hunter completely in half! As the legs crumpled to the ground, Set dropped the upper half as well.

"Well," Sigma sighed. "That was just too easy."

"And that's how we'll do it," Set said. "Take the hunters out, one by one! Victory will be ours!"

The evil leaders, seemingly united for now, laughed together.

Set: So much for trying to interfere with us. *walks away*

Kenyamna tries to open his eyes and when Set was temporarily away, he called for his dragonflies. They picked up his body and they united with his torso giving him a temporary half.

Kenyamna: F-fly... *turns into a cloud of dragonflies and gets away*

Meanwhile...

Leon: *slings Mega's arm over his shoulder* Come on, buddy. You can make it.
Mega: No offense, Leon but I can walk by myself. *tries to walk but stumbles*
Leon: No you can't. Now come on. Strange, where do you think Kenyamna went?
Mega: I have no idea... he'd better be alright...

As the two made it around the corner, they heard some footsteps.

Leon: Stay here. They could be Mavericks. *makes Mega sit down*
Mega: I'm right behind ya.

As the footsteps got louder, Leon popped out from the wall with his rifle drawn and aimed it at the head of the approaching target.

??? & ???: EEEK!! DON'T SHOOT, LEON!!!
Leon: *draws back rifle* Alia, Saliema. What are you guys doing here?
Alia: X and Jeran are gone!
Leon & Mega: WHAT?!
Saliema: We looked everywhere... but it seems like they're nowhere to be found.
Mega: So this is all their planning... Those Mavericks are definitely going to go down.
Tempest: Hey, I hear some buzzing... Kenny should be nearby.

The hunters make their way around and found a Maverick trying to swat down the dragonflies one by one as the upper torso of Kenyamna lay motionless in a nearby corner.

Leon: Hey! We don't like what you're doing. *shoots the Maverick in the leg*
Maverick: OUCH! *falls*
Leon: Tell us. *grabs Maverick by the neck* Where are X and Jeran?!
Maverick: I-I don't know!
Saliema: Hey Leon, put him down. I'll handle this.
Leon: *drops Maverick*
Saliema: *kneels before the Maverick* Aww, did Leon scare you?
Maverick: Are you trying to mock me, kid?
Saliema: Guess not. Maybe this will. *pulls off the skin off her face*

The hunters were behind Saliema when she did this so they did not see anything. The Maverick however, saw something too scary for words to describe. Along seeing tentacles burst out from her face, a loud female scream was also heard along with an insane laugh. When she put back her face, the Maverick was completely pale and fainted.

Mega: You overdid it, Saliema.
Saliema: Sorry. ^^;
Leon: Kenny! *rushes to his side* Kenny... can you talk? What happened?
Kenyamna: Can't... talk... much... Long... story... Systems... failing. I still have one message...
Alia: We're all ears, Kenyamna. Tell us.
Kenyamna: The Mavericks plan... to take us out... one by one... X... and Jeran are probably... their next targets... You must... find them.
Tempest: *listens carefully* You'll be fine, Kenny. Your inner circuits seem to be functioning slowly but they're still god enough to keep you alive.
Kenyamna: ...*faints*
Leon: He'd better rest somewhere... Unless Saliema can do something to keep him alive.
Saliema: The damage is too great. I can't undo this. But I can give him a little bit of life. Maybe I should stay behind. You guys go find Jeran and X... please be careful.

OOC: Time for a little cameo from my Demon Hunters. Sorry, just can't resist includin 'em.^^

"Or how about the one where you give me the two hostages and then beat the crap out of each other?"

Sigma nodded, a malicious grin on his face.

"Yes, that one sounds good. We'll do tha- Waitasec! What?!"

A figure dropped from the ceiling, landing lightly on the floor and watching the two masters of evil.

"Who are you?!" Set spat at the intruder.

The reploid only smirked, which sent Set and Sigma into a fit of rage. Sigma unleashed a large particle cannon that fired an immense beam at the intruder, while Set unleashed demonic flames that wrapped around the beam and mae it that much more deadly. The reploid just smirked as the blast impacted, destroying that spot and the many rooms behind it. The entire level shook, frightening the Hunters from the sudden shock.

As the two evil lords laughed at the intruder's stupidity, a voice sounded from behind them.

"Oh, yeah. Real clever, guys. 'Just blast him! That'll solve everything!'" the reploid mocked with a very slight cajun accent.

The enraged duo whipped around, spotting the intruder with X slung over his shoulder and Jeran under the other arm.

"Don't know much about the wolf-guy, but from what I've gathered, this blue fella is the Maverick Hunters' leader. I'm sure they'll want him back."

Sigma stepped forward, readying the particle cannon once again.

"Whoa, whoa, crome dome. Down boy."

Set also stepped forward, with a strange smirk on his face. But as Sigma looked at his partner, the grin vanished, and was replaced by a scowl.

"You have no idea what you're in for, boy." he said threateningly.

The reploid smirked.

"I think you've got it mixed up. It's the other way around."

Sigma smirked, still readying the particle cannon.

"Before you die, what is your name, foolish one?"

The reploid's wide grin did not falter.

"Name's Shinji. Lieutenant under Vice-Commander Len."

The edge of Set's lips twitched into another smirk, but it was quickly discarded.

"Right then, Shinji. Prepare to meet oblivion."

Sigma made the mistake of blinking at that moment. In that one half-a-second, Shinji had disappeared.

"Really now, cue ball? Well, I'd say that you losers ain't got what it takes to catch me, on account of me bein faster than you."

Shinji's eyes widened as Set appeared behind him, looking down upon the young reploid with an impassive glint in his demonic eyes.

"That's still to be seen."

Shinji furrowed his brow, and disappeared again, only to have Set one step ahead and appear where he did. The high speed chase around the room lasted for 15 minutes before, Set had had enough. As Shinji touched down one last time, Set brought his sword up and slashed the young reploid from his right hip to his left shoulder. As Shinji went down, a shocked expression on his face, Sigma, with a maniacal fit of laughter, readied the particle cannon and prepared to fire. Suddenly, Set's eyes widened in shock as Shinji disappeared again with the two Hunters. Sigma's eyes widened as well as he felt a light tap on the top of his head. Shinji had landed upon it gracefully, X and Jeran in tow, a grin still on his face.

"Nice try. gotta commend you on that. But no one can match my speed. Try again sometime."

"Why are you doing this?!" Sigma asked angrily.

"It's my job. See.... they're Maverick Hunters. Well.... I'm a Demon Hunter."

And with that, Shinji stamped his other foot on Sigma's head, throwing him forward and propelling Shinji into the air. He touched down and sped off down the hall with X and Jeran, picking up speed every second. Suddenly, with a glance to his right as passed another hallway, he screeched to a halt, and stared at the little girl healing the top half of a damaged reploid. Recognizing her instantly, Shinji slowly walked forward, still holding X and Jeran, watching the little girl. He finally stopped right behind her, watching her in shock afetr not seeing her for so long.

".... Saliema? That you?"

"Hey, dirtbags!!"

The two evil lords quickly turned around, trying to find the source of the voice.

"Do you really think I'd leave Saliema Kusanagi alone with you?!"

Shinji, his leg still bleeding profusely, had formed his entire right arm into a large buster. Grinning, a giant charged shot errupted from it, flying down the hallway and collding with the floor right in front of the duo. Sigma, Saliema slung over his shoulder, had no time to react as Shinji flew under him, backhanding him in the cheek. The young D. Hunter then swung around his neck, kicking him in the the back of the head and sending him stumbling forward. Shinji then leapt up, slamming his knees into Set's shoulder's and his fists into either side of the demon king's head. Set stumbled forward as fell, falling to his knees. Shinji leapt up into the air once again, the entire hallway still covered in smoke, and watched with a smirk as Sigma stumbled over to set, not able to control where he was going. Shinji the brought down his foot in a hard downwards kick to the back of Sigma's head, making the large Maverick lord fall on top of Set.

"Quickly!"

Saliema crawled out of the mess of bodies, and in a flash Shinji grabbed her wrist, beginning to run. X was once again slung onto his back, with Jeran under his free arm.

"Wait!! Kenyamna's back there!!"

"Don't worry," Shinji replied with a smirk, "I moved him when the losers were gloating. The won't find him, trust me."

Saliema slowly nodded.

"Now, we jsut have to find your friends, so we can get out of-"

He suddenly turned a corner, facing the Maverick Hunters. They stared at him for a moment, noting how X and Jeran were being carried, battered and bruised, and Saliema was being nearly dragged by this mysterious man, with numerous scrapes and scratches upon her frail body. Shinji could already guess.

Crap.

"Get off of me, you fool!" shouted Set, shoving Sigma's stunned body off of him.

"Fool?!" yelled an enraged Sigma. "How dare you!"

Sigma was about to attack Set when he noticed something. "Where are the hunters?"

"That's what I've been trying to tell you," explained Set. "While we were stumbling into each other, that brat got away with our captives!"

"Damn him!" screamed out Sigma, punching the ground so hard that it caused a small earthquake in the area.

"Calm down," Set tried to tell him. "We'll get them back. By the way, I apologize for insulting you during our truce. I wasn't thinking clearly."

"Don't let it happen again," grunted Sigma. "I'm pretty pissed off. How could we let them get away like that?"

"It's understandable," rationalized Set. "We had never seen the likes of this 'demon hunter' before. We didn't know what moves he had, or how resilient he was. Next time, we'll know exactly what we're up against, and prepare accordingly."

"That makes sense," Sigma agreed, nodding his head. "So what do you suggest we do next?"

"Our plans have only changed slightly," said Set. "Hear me out."

As Set explained the new plan, Sigma's evil grin grew wider and wider.

"I like it. And now, just for that, we'll make their punishment extra painful," Sigma added.

"Agreed," smiled Set. "Now, let's get to it, shall we?"

Sigma grinned at this newest development. The chance to kill X stared him in the face, and he wouldn't dare pass it up.

X (thinking): What should I do? They probably aren't even trying, those fiends. I'm not sure I'll be able to ev-!!!
*before he could even reach Sigma, he's shoulder-rammed by Set into and through a wall, worsening his condition*
Jeran: X! Why you little-!
*slammed in the gut by Sigma's fist*
Sigma: I wonder when you'll realize the futility of your situation.
*Jeran is coughing up blood due to the force of Sigma's punch and his injuries, kneeling to the ground*
Sigma: You're dead!
*smirks before spinning and launching Jeran with a backhand*
*Set then leaps into the air and piledrives Jeran by the neck, slamming him to the floor and slowly choking him*
*picks him up and brings his arm back for another punch, but a beam of energy hits Set from the left and pushes Set about 3 feet, although it does cause him to drop Jeran*
*Set, unharmed, laughs at X's efforts*
Set:HAHAHAHAHAHHAH!!!! Was that your best, Blue Bomber?
*teleports behind X and grabs him, holding him up by the scalp*
Set: Since you won't be around much longer, perhaps I should tell you our secret. Would you like to know WHY we outstrip you by this much?

X: ...Sure, why not?
*charges Buster, using this as a distraction*

Set: Sigma and I have spent a lot of time together. With the Segmat and Armageddon Mech, we've gained a better understanding of each other.
*Sigma hurls Jeran into the air, firing a blast almost immediately after, which Jeran blocks with his shield before sending a flurry of holy sonic booms at Sigma*
*Sigma uses his super-speed to immediately warp in front of Jeran, holding his sword in place before sending Jeran flying, flinging the blade with massive force, forcing Jeran to let go of the hilt*
*Jeran crashes to the ground*
Set: More importantly, inside of that mech, our programming began to merge. Even though we were forcefully seperated, a part of me is inside Sigma, and vice-versa. It does feel ridiculous to have a part of that clown merged with me, but...
*squeezes X's head in his hand*
X:AAARRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Set: It DOES give us both a massive increase in power.
*X slowly begins to smirk, albeit with labored breathing*
X:Is it enough...of an increase?

Set:What are you talk-?!!!
*X's Buster, fully charged is pointed at Set at point-blank range*
X(thinking): I...I doubt this will even damage him...But, it should at least loosen his grip. Then I can grab Jeran and find a place to hide... (out loud) Regret this, Maverick! DIE!!!
*fires a full-power Charge Shot, the largest one yet, that collides with Set and knocks X loose as Set is tackled with a massive amount of energy*
X:Now's my chance...
*with his other arm, he fires another Charge Shot to cause a large explosion, distracting Sigma as X grabs an unconscious Jeran, dashing for his life*
X(thinking): Come on...I HAVE to make it!
*Set launches a shockwave of energy, breaking free of the Charge Shot and dashing towards X*
Set: That was pretty sneaky, X! BUT IT'S ALL OVER, YOU A**HOLE!!!
X(thinking): Crap...I'm not gonna make it!
*at this time, Jeran's eyes flew open, and with a final surge of energy, rockets both he and X upwards with a jet of light energy, blinding Set and sending him flying in the opposite direction as X wall-kicks the both of them to safety*

After their close call with Team Segmat, X and Jeran rest in a hidden room, Sigma and Set hot on their trail.


X: Did...Did Jeran sense my plight? What was that source of energy?
*looks at Jeran, who's unconscious from the massive amount of energy he used*
X:Rest easy, friend...
*looks over his shoulder, checking for Sigma and Set*
X:I don't know what I should do...Jeran's unconscious and I'm not too far off...And the worst part of it...
*looks at his damaged arm*
X: I can't contact the rest of the Hunters...They could be anywhere in this monstrosity...!!!
*before even noticing, he was moving through the Castle at high speed, stopping before he could catch his breath*
*drops to the ground, Jeran besides him*
Shinji: See? I told you I meant no harm.
*X looks at Shinji*
X(thinking): Is he...the one that grabbed me?

Axl: Maybe, but it IS a bit strange how they come back even more damaged than before after you keep finding them.

Zero:You've got to stop worrying us like that, X. That was a little TOO close.

X:I nearly get dismantled and all you can say is "stop worrying us?" Classic Zero, of course.

Zero:Heh. It's good to see you again.
*smiles at X, who returns the smile*
Gargantuan: Likewise. What happened to you two anyway?

X:Sigma and Set happened, that's what. And they've gotten even more powerful.
