HELP N64 wont turn on
|
I think my nintendo 64 got shorted out. I took apart a controller to fix the Z trigger because it was messing up, and someone pluged it in (I didnt have the bottom on it, so you could touch the chip thing in it) and turned it on. now it wont turn back on. I think it got shorted out. does anyone know what I need to do, or how to take it apart to fix it?
and yes it was working earlyer today. I've been playing it most of the morning.

I think you should just buy a new one and are you sure it's plugged in? I don't know much about the technical stuff, sorry.

If you fix an N64 controller, it won't work properly, the same thing happens for two of my three controllers. But, once you buy a new controller, which should not be that much, it should turn on. Also, do you have another controller? If so, put that in Slot 1, and take the other controller out, then probably throw it away would be the best thing.

no I took the controller apart to see what was wrong with the Z tigger (its broken, so I just threw it away since I dont have a replacement) but I never put it back to gether (why would I if I didnt need it) but someone accedntly pluged it in, and turned it on. I have taken all the controllers out and stuff. I cant even get the red light saying its turned on to come on.

I will try to help you the best that I can. Try turning off your N64. Once it is turned off which it should, then see if you have an Adapter in the back of the N64, it should have that big block, which is an expansion pack, on the right, then to the left you should put the Adapter in. If that is done properly, and is connected to the TV or another adapter that works, and is hooked up, then it should not be a problem, or at least that. Then, if you have another controller, insert that, and then see if it will turn on. If it still does not, it could mean that something is wrong with the N64, which you should consult your N64 Manual for further instructions. If you still have problems, feel free to post here, and I will try to figure another reason what is wrong with it. Let me know how it is.

I've been playing the system for a while. I quit for a while. someone pluged in the broken controller, and turned it on, and I think the chip thing inside the controller came in contact with something, and shorted out the N64. I think I may beable to fix it if I could open it up. but I cant find the right tool to open it.
I know its pluged in right and stuff. I used to have one for a few years, but I sold it, then my grandparnents gave me theirs.
I may just have to go to gamestop, and buy one. I think there $20 or so.

My lil brother took my nintendo to my dads house and right when he got there he called and said it wasnt even turning on.. he brought it back and i tried to do it but same thing. Is it common for them to just stop working? it was in perfect shape when i bought it like a month ago. Should i try getting a new controller like said above or a new 64?? And it has that expansion pak thing too. maybe i need to replace that?
