1)No, unfortunately you can only play as Ty.

2)Getting 1st place in all the races just lets you beat the game 100%. Nothing else.

3)I can't remember all the boomerangs but I'll give it a go.
Boomerang - Standard boomerang

Multirang - Upgraded from boomerang. Lets you throw multiple boomerang

Smasharang(?) - Breaks metal boxes

Kaboomerang - Upgraded from Smash. Breaks boxes and kills enemies with explosion.

Lasharang - Use it to grab those weird hanging things.. Like the ones in the sky in Burramudgee

Warparang - Upgrades from Lash. Use it to hit purple crystal things.

Zoomerang - Can be thrown further than any other boomerang. Looking thorugh Ty's eyes lets you zoom in and out.

Infrarang - Upgrades from zoom. Let's you see invisible objects.

Deadlyrang - Like Kaboom, except you can throw two.

Doomerang - A boomerang you can move aroung when you throw it. However it can't go very high and if it goes too far away it will explode.


That's about it really. There are some elemental boomerangs, but their affects are pretty obvious. Tell me if I've forgot any.

Once again, they are only for completing the game 100%
Sadly they are useless, so collecting them doesn't seem worthwhile.

Are you sure x-rang does nothing else? Sounds kinda pointless.

I forgot the megarang which homes in on enemies and it's upgrade which lets you throw multiple rangs (thus making the multirang seem pointless)

I didn't use it much because you could throw the boomerang without effort and defeat all the (small) enemy. I think I usually used the multirang because I thought it looked cool.

If we're going to get into a big talk about the Ty3 rang systtem, we should probably head to the Ty3 forums though.

You'd be surprised. When I was only a month or 2 on Neo, I didn't really understand the rules, so I invaded the Theme Park Worls PSX forum and made stupid threads about being King of the Forum.
That forum was pretty dead, with only 1 recent post by someone else. I still got caught.
That set off a chain reaction of bad relations between me and several Mods. But I think they forgot about me now.

The moral of the story is be careful.

You should check out the site though. The custom rang thing looks awesome. Looked awesome.
