Secret Characters???

Are there any secret characters in the game, since there are two spots on th sub-commander screen (1 for good, 1 for evil) that only have a symbol.
So i ask, are there characters that can be unlocked??
I already finished the game twice on hard mode and have only unlocked 2-3 extra missions. I finished those but nothing gets unlocked after that.

The secret character for the evil side is Shagrat(an orc)

I still haven't beaten the evil campaign.
And I have no idea how long it took me to beat it.

Depends on who you playing as and what difficulty. On normal I like Elrond for good with whoever lets him use Defensive Stance every turn. For evil, Mouth of Sauron is nice because of Eye of Sauron lets you wipe out their heros at range and all their pesky standard bearers. Who with his is really your choice...
