Also, the one thing I have to say on the topic of using other peoples' characters, I think as long as you put in a valid effort to present them as the owner intends, I think that's really fine and it's great and it's special. I fully agree with Fyre that seeing other people faithfully present one of your own characters is a really good feeling. Really not sure if something is going to be in character? There's nothing in the rules whatsoever that says you can't ask - if you have an idea you're unsure about, just ask in a manner as inspecific as you like and it'll be fine. It's all for fun, and simply worrying about using others' characters in posts at all really takes away from the character of the post, and it makes the character a post.

Aulis Vaara: I weighed in at one point It was quite far back though so I'll either go back and edit it in later or not bother, it was mostly rambly anyway.

Tiger go Meow: That's why, before a duel, if you have qualms about someone using your character you let them know or ask them to show you their posts, or something. If you're not sure about how you've portrayed a character, you ask them. For example, when I dueled Ultimaodin (and I believe he does this in every duel) he PM'd me his post beforehand, and I went through it, pointed out where Ion was acting slightly OOC and suggested changes. The end result is a duel that ends up being much more fulfilling, as the occasional usage of the opponent's character allows for longer, more descriptive, more eventful posts, and a duel that will end up being more interesting for the judges to read because one side doesn't just sit there like a ninny while the other person battles.

And I, as a duelist, am always quite nervous about using other people's characters and getting them right. That's part of the reason pretty much the only bronze achievement I don't have is the one for using someone else's character in a chronicles post, and you have a lot more freedom with those, both editing-wise and checking-beforehand-wise. I still use my opponent's character in a post, it's just that it's sparingly, and the way I do things I think that makes the Character Swap duel a valid thing.
Of course, I can only think of two, maybe three people whose character I know well enough to consider doing that sort of duel with.

I think, in my entire time duelling, I've only had one post, out of all my duels, where someone used Ion in a way I wasn't entirely happy with, and even then that was mostly my fault for not having ironed out things like how sturdy the Cross was at the time. Even then, I worked with it. (He was acting to trick the duellist. Unreliable Narrator go!)

Fire_Phoenix: I think people, assuming there are still people like this, who think that you must write a post entirely on your own with no input need to lose that opinion. There's no harm with dropping a few questions ("Would your character be ok with X?" "How does their fear of X manifest?") Or even with, if you're uncertain, sending them the post before you post it. It's not like you're getting someone else to write it for you, after all, it's still all your own work - just that someone's checking on the portrayal of their creation within it.

Also, this hardcore challenge looks interesting! I think I'll break out Skahr and the gang for it if I can think of a suitable trial, since it'll be interesting trying to deal with birds going through trials designed for humanoids.
Time to break out the old D&D adventures, I think! Spider Tower should be around here somewhere...

finalfight: The character looks awesome, but compared to Ged he seems kinda weak. I'm not sure if that's a criticism or an observation though

Bluuuuh, got up late again today. Time to break out the hardcore revision mode, power through a bunch of powerpoints, then crank out the last battle post for my duel with finalfight. Then I'll be all outta duels, just before my crazy exam hell starts. Good timing, fate!
