Neoseeker is no longer marked as having malware by Google and we have been removed from all databases.

However, it appears that some users are still seeing this warning on Firefox and possibly other browsers.

There is a known bug in Firefox which doesn't properly clear the error once the site is marked as clean. You can read the details of this bug report here. The Firefox developers have indicated they will not fix this bug in Firefox 17 because Firefox 18 will be out within a week. This means that if you are using Firefox, you must either update to a beta from here:

Hi everyone,

We're aware that starting today there's a malware warning popping up using Chrome (or even Firefox) when accessing the site.

This is caused by an excellent anti-phishing and malware feature on Google Chrome.

The site is currently SAFE. We have found and fixed all the elements that Google says are "malware".

What's Happening?

Just to start off, the site was not hacked nor malicious code added to the site. Some old forum posts made by members were using an old image hosting service for embedding some images. From what I can tell, the images are now flagged as "malware", I think because the image host has since gone out of business (just think of an old version of imageshack). Some malicious group may have snapped up the domain name, and proceeded to reuse the domain to spread malware.

Google has reported to us URLs using this malware domain, and we have edited all the forum posts to remove them. In addition, one of our ad provider code has been flagged, and we have removed those too.

This means the malware threat has been "fixed", but Chrome and Google may still continue to think the site has malware until they can detect the malware is gone. We'll be monitoring this and fixing things if any new stuff crops up.

Unfortunately, this means if you are using Chrome/Firefox it might still continue to block the site for a while. You can work around this by using another browser temporarily (such as Opera or IE), or you can disable Phising and malware protection on Chrome, which I do not recommend. Regardless of my recommendation, that's what I've done for the time being since I want to use Neoseeker on Chrome. It is up to each user whether they can safely do this, but I would suggest if you visit lots of sites that you don't want to change these settings.

Why does it show up on all pages, or some pages?

The way the malware warning works is that it is non specific. Once Google has concerns, it will mark MANY pages with malware warning, not just the specific pages that it finds might contain malware. When this error started, only less than 20 pages out of 24Million pages on the site were marked as having harmful code.

This is why on some pages you will get warnings, but those pages are completely clean.

Update:

After reviewing new reports from the Google system, it seems that Google has in fact flagged a specific advertising provider as being the major problem. While it also found old images URLs, the advertising partner is the bulk of current complaints. I did remove this partner when we first got the alerts. It is now up to Google to review and change the warning setting.

I've actually been getting this warning for a couple months now over in the KH3D Forum, specifically the hurt and heal, and I continue to get it every time I try to open the thread. It's good to know something is being done about it, I was scared to enter the thread at first for fear of malware, haha.

I'm glad nothing serious happened. Thanks for the heads-up, I was wondering why I was getting these messages when I logged in.

It looks like this has been sorted on my end. Using Google Chrome on Windows 7-64 bit.
