I got AvP2 last week-ish, i installed it, then it worked just perfectly fine, then just a few days ago, i decided i should reformat my computer, anyways, after the reformat, i got all of windows updates (i run Windows XP) i got all my drivers, and stuff like that, after all that, i installed a veriety of games, AvP2 was one of them, i wanted to play AvP2 because its new to me, i click on the shortcut, the AvP2 menu comes up, i hit run game or whatever, a black box appears with AvP2's name across the top, it starts taking an unusual amount of time, hit CTRL+ALT+DEL, too see how my computer performance was going, then the screen goes black, i assumed it was loading, but it was still taking a really long time(5+ minutes) i minimized it using ALT+TAB. the screen minimized onto the taskbar, i hear noises from the game where it shows the maker's logos and stuff, then it cuts off about a half of second of noise, i close the task manager, maximize the game, still a black screen but plays about another second of the volume, sit there for 10 minutes, nothing happens, CTRL+ALT+DEL to check performance again, it show that my computer is running fine, i close the game through the manager, check my devices too see if i missed any devices, apparently i'm not missing anything, so i open other games to check if it was just that game or my computer, i opened and played: LOTRO, and Oblivion, which worked perfectly fine, i try AVP2 again, but it didnt work, so i reinstalled, didnt work, defragmented, scanned for viruses/spyware, nothing reported, downloaded and tried to use the demo, didnt work (i previously tried the demo before and it worked) so i'm really curious, what might be the problem? thanks for the help/replies. BTW my computer has: 1GB ram, 50 GB of free space, 2.4 Ghz processor, have directX 9c, NVIDIA GeForce 6600... but i still dont know what the problem is...

(this is OP) i got it too work, apparently one of my background programs was preventing it from opening.
