Which do you feel is better? Xenosaga 1 or 2?

Personally I feel 1 is better because it was the thing that started it all and I was really upset at finding all the characters COMPLETLY different from what they were originally. My list of Differences:

1) Few of them even remotley look like they did in one I mean sheesh Shion had Orange Hair! not Brown. Plus they made her look so lame in this game too.

2) Few of the voices are the same from 1, From what I recall Jr. is the only one who's voice is the same, MOMO is the most upsetting because her voice is so whinny in 2.

3) battle system to complicated and not cool looking enough. In 1 there was shiny attacks and acrobatic attacks that where freaking awsome. In 2 it's so lame and boring.

4) chaos is annoying me in 2, he's supposedly more DARK AND COOL, but they introduced him as a kind, sweet, understanding angel boy (who had a crush on KOS-MOS) not some guy with a dark past.

5)over all the graphics are cruddy. I have waited about half a year after playing Xenosaga 1 to play 2 just so I'll forget at least in part how stuff was in 1 so I'm not to upset and annoyed by 2's stupidness.

Anyway what's ya'lls opinions?

I pretty much fully agree with you.

The graphics in 2 really turned me off, I mean it's my favorite RPG series so of course I let it slide due to the great story and characters but I just hate how they look in 2.

They really dumbed down the battle system also, I hated that they took away doing the fun special attacks.

Overall, 3 is my favorite because the graphics are beautiful again (even better) and the story progression flows well and comes to an exciting conclusion -- only thing is the publisher can suck dcik for deciding to make it rated Teen and not have any blood in it -- it made some scenes not make sense, definitely need to be downloaded and re-watched certain scenes. (i.e. Shion and her mom flashback)

Great series, I love sci-fi stories, the biblical references were on target and really deep if you look into even little details like the characters names.

Yes someone replied, I've only played to a little bit before beating the System Omega dungen in 2. I went ahead and bought 3 because of my love for 1 and the graphics looked like they would be better after looking at the box.

The graphics in 3 are gorgeous, and definitely a great game, probably the best of the 3 because of the story pieces that you learn. If you're really attached and connected to the characters you'll enjoy 2 despite the different art style and less cool battle system.

I was mainly horrified at how they could change Shion so much, Orange to dark brown hair and a completely unfamiliar face. MOMO was just as bad with the voice, but she didn't look THAT much different from how she looked in 1. chaos still annoys me with the weird voice, but the guys look pretty much the same, especially Ziggy.

I think they only changed Shion's look from the first to the second because she would have looked weird coming from Anime looking game to some-what realistic. Ziggy, jr., and (to an extent) chaos made the transistion okay. Shion would have looked wierd (remember the opening movie when she still has her Vector uniform on?) and KOS-MOS did look weird (see episode 3 when she has her Der Wille zur Macht design on). It might have been possible to pull off MOMO's new look but, whatever... And you can't blame the voice acting on deveopment. Some actors didn't want to do another game.

The frist time though XE2 I thought that game was better but after a couple of times though I'd rather play XE1. XE2 had me asking a lot of questions that didn't have an anwser (and I'm not talking about the complicated storyline stuff) and I really disliked it's shortness and the whole Encphalon dive part (and let's not forget I'v forgotten disk 2). Of course XE3 blew both of them out of the water.
