Something similar to deus ex |

Does anyone know a game that is very similar to deus ex? Because I was really disappointed with "deus ex: invisible war".

well the only one thats kinda similar in terms of gameplay elements(augmenting and weapons upgrades and skills) would be system shock 2. The game is pretty fun and will scare the hell out of you in certain spots. The story is nothing like Deus Ex though and revolves around you being in space and is in fact more of a survival horror game then anything else. Going in guns blazing is fun but will knock you on your ass fast in the game if you're playing any difficulty other then easy. Definatly check it out though if you can find it. Stay away from the abandonware version of the game since its unstable on XP systems and require some additional downloading then its worth.
Theres also Vampire the Masquerade:Bloodlines. Its similar only in the system of being a RPG first person shooter. Story telling is excellent but gets cliche at parts but is very enjoyable overall. There is some gamestopping bugs that may appear but due to the community of modders the game has been patched up quite nice(Trokia went under so no more support from them). Its quests are pretty fun and you pick what your character will say instead of watching it in Deus Ex. Theres about 6 starting clans you can choose from, each with their own cool little featurs(like insantiy for Malks, and shapeshifting for Gangrels. Nosferatu can go invisible but cant be seen by populas without them freaking out at your deformed self). The game only tends to drag on in one area(sewers, while checking out a snuff film that showed a creature...). The game is a little demanding on system resources(750 memory even though it says 512 on the back, dont ask PR bullshite) buts its pretty good overall. Heres the site links for them: System Shock 2 VtM:B hope this helps -kDevil This message was edited by kDevil 8 on Jun 27 2006. ------------------- ![]()

Games similar to Deus Ex, eh? Well there are a couple I know of.
No One Lives Forever and Half-Life are good games that are similar to Deus Ex. NOLF is more humorous whereas Half-Life is more creepy. Their sequels are also pretty good as well. Knights of the Old Republic has a similar open end theme as Deus Ex, but it's more RPG than Action. -------------------

Well if youre still looking for games similar theres also the new Bioshock game that new and going to be similar to Deus Ex and System Shock, mostly SS since its the same group of devs working on it.
Then theres the Thief series. Not like Deus Ex really but the story and game mechanics makes them very enjoyable. Killing is not the focus in Thief. Think Splinter Cell but instead of being a spy, you're a thief who steals from the rich to give to your self. Very good series, although the third game was kind of a let down. But check out Bioshock when its released if your looking for a current game thats going to like Deus Ex. ------------------- ![]()

I reinforce the aforementioned opinions stated here. System Shock 2 is an amazing game with a very similar engine to Deus Ex. It has a completely different storyline, though, and the game has a dark atmosphere in the horror/survival vein. It's an excellent game to play at night wearing headphones. Additionally, the game was produced by Looking Glass Studios, the same group that brought us the Thief series, and SS2 utilizes the same game engine. It goes without saying that I recommend that series as well.
Check out the link that kDevil 8 posted regarding Bioshock as well as its IGN page. Again, it has the same developers and is a beautiful-looking game with a new retro-future underwater theme. At E3 this year, it really came out of nowhere and impressed many.

Have you even played the game? Deus Ex Invisible War pales in comparison to the first game.

quote WimpyByeah, it IS disappointing, I'm a worshiper of the original, and I've given up on Invisible War after 20 minutes of play time. It's all backwards, the sequel should be better than the original at least as much as, sadly, the original is better than the IW.

I've played through all of Invisible War. It's crap compared to DX. It had potential, but an over simplified augmentation, weapons, and storage system plus a missing skill points system essentially neutered it.
