I can understand the straight edge approach slightly when it comes to cigs (second hand smoke etc.) but having a go at someone who has a few glasses of port or the odd pint of Guinness here and there is just laughable and such people need to take a good look at themselves and re-evaluate their life.

It's fascinating seeing the different attitudes regarding alcohol between continents and cultures in this thread - just amazing.

Honestly, there is no real reason that a person should *need* alcohol in their life. If you're someone who does drink a lot then don't take this personally. I'm not trying to judge any particular person for what they do with their lives because we all have faults but I'm just saying that alcohol is unnecessary, in my opinion.

Do any of those stories revolve around the worst case scenario which you immediately jumped to in your first bit there? But shit, you're 16 so I won't hold that against you.. either you've seen it happen or some teachers/parents probably scared you off with such stories.

I can assume you're a kid with common sense, and so most people with enough common sense and discipline, be it teenagers, young adults or middle-aged men, will never reach to that point if they drink responsibly enough. But I know, there's always an anomaly, we're billions of people on this planet... even the wisest of fellas can go off the handle.


Now.. with you telling grown-ass men ways to socialize/have fun when you haven't even hit legal age yet - hmm, I respect your point of view(well somewhat, with the use of the word 'poison' and whatnot) and I don't believe alcohol to be the be-all end-all of solutions, but do you think your point carries much weight when you haven't even hit legal age yet to enter a bar?
