Oh that's great! Let the government have all the weapons and let the population be disarmed. It's not like that stupid decision might not affect anyone 50 or 100 years down the line when the American government could be radically different or more totalitarian. The taking over of a nation by another country, political party, etc is preceded by the disarming of a nation.

Not to mention that said criminals who have firearms could always smuggle them from neighboring countries, and use them against civilians who were disarmed. Yay for more government and criminal power!

100% agree with you. Firearms are often necessary for both authorities and regular civilians. Banning civilians from owning them is a real bad thing the government could do, if you think a little bit. And I don't mean because it's a violation of the second amendment. The economy would be impacted, people whose livelihoods revolve around firearms and hunting would suffer, more people will end up dead or harmed due to a lack of lethal defense, etc.

Like I said countless times, just because something terrible happens involving a particular thing, doesn't mean it should be outlawed. That mentality of thinking is unconstitutional, dangerous, and tyrannic.

This argument that civilians need guns to protect themselves from criminals is ridiculous. People don't carry them around on themselves 24/7. They might be ambushed without their gun, owning one won't help them in that situation if it's back at home in the cupboard.

How could you possibly know that? In the past week, there have been about five gun-related murders in the city I live in. The victims were unarmed and weren't able to do much. Why do you think a law will prevent someone from doing something? As I said above, a no gun law will give criminals the upper hand. Laws aren't entirely effective and people are able to get what they want, when they want it, regardless of its legality.

Bet you didn't hear of the incident that occurred not too long ago where a disgruntled man shot and killed his ex girlfriend in a restaurant, and a bystander who was licensed to own a pistol shot the killer dead before he was able to go on a shooting spree in the place.

According to your logic, you should dispose of your kitchen knives. Even though they serve a perfectly legitimate role, they've been used for murders and shankings. You're a hypocrite if you think you should keep them.

The US has one of, if not the highest, gun fatality rate out of all First World countries after a quick search.

So if that is not caused by the relaxed gun laws then what is it? Something in the water?

I'm only basing this of First world countries because The term "First World" refers to so called developed, capitalist, industrial countries, roughly, a bloc of countries aligned with the United States after World War II, with more or less common political and economic interests: North America, Western Europe, Japan and Australia.

How did you go from making the unsupported statement that the reason why Americans have firearms is because most others have them, to talking about fatality rates? You're full of shit.

Many Americans who own guns say they own them for protection. So that is why I am assuming that if no one else needed guns you probably wouldn't need one yourself to defend yourself.

All I know is if you own a gun here when its at home it must be locked away in a gun safe with the ammunition locked away separately.
You cannot carry it on your person in public unless you require it for your job. If you want to take your gun to a shooting range or a hunting location i think it must be locked away in your car during transport.
I have never heard an average civilian ever say "damn thy was a bad situation, would of ended better if I had a gun with me"

I was going to ignore this, but I swear you just don't know when to stop. Okay, so what are the modern positives to guns? And don't say security, because the only threat guns are going to keep at bay are animals that people have wrongly treated, and other people weilding weapons (which is somewhat rarer in countries with stricter gun laws, wow, what a surprise!) Police have tasers. Rape victims? How the hell are you going to get a gun out of your bag when the disgusting rapist is doing it? What I was saying in the first place is that I hope nowhere else legalises guns, because they do nothing but damage, and that if the USA hadn't got these lax laws (despite all reasoning why they have it, and the fact it's honestly too late to change it), there would be a lot less deaths in the USA. I'm arguing against guns, nothing else now. That's something I do know. Any positives they may add to the world are completely counteracted by the life loss they cause.

But then you come up with this saying that EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE shouldn't have a gun?

I'm going to ignore the part about self defense, simply because that I have no say in that matter.

But saying that there are more ethical ways to kill an animal other then guns? Guns are the most ethical way of killing an animal, shoot it in the right place and instant death, no pain felt.

I come from a small village in Alaska, and the animals we kill counts for about 80% of our diet, and I'm just talking about one village, not counting the rest of Alaska and of course America. We can't just start eating solely from our local store, since the food has to be shipped up there by plane the prices of everything is doubled, if we tried to do that we would go broke instantly.

We can't go back to the old ways of hunting, because that would be way too inefficient. Hunting with a spear or bow and arrow would kill a few, and probably feed a small group of people. But Alaska has grown and now the only way to feed our people is by hunting with guns, because it is the only way to catch the amount of animals we hunt.

Tell me please how would banning guns help us natives in Alaska?
