Neophobia - Page 3

The most common fear is that of public speaking. I had that before my promotion demanded it. After the first speech I was covered in sweat and was shaking all over. I was light headed and my mouth couldn't have been drier. I did a few more that week and am pretty confident in my abilities in giving public speeches, though I absolutely hate it.

Oh man, I get that all the time. When I was younger I always thought something was wrong with me. We took a trip to Gettysburg, an old Civil War battlefield, in my sophomore year. There was a big metal tower that had an observation deck on the top so you could see the modern city. I was the only one leaning against the eastern side, looking at the woods. The urge to jump down into the parking lot below was so powerful, when one of my classmates came over I wrapped his arms around me so I wouldn't do anything stupid.

I'm not afraid of heights, though. I love being up above everything else. I think my main phobia is abandonment. I don't have problems with spiders, the dark or confined spaces, but losing all my friends and family is my worst nightmare.

Not really like it being hot outside or running and getting hot... more like burning to death or being around hot objects. If that makes sense.

Oh, it does. When I was about ten I was terrified there would be a fire in the house at night and I would die. I dealt with that for about a year until I finally managed to stop thinking about it. I'm sure it's not as severe as your phobia, though.

I have a fear of heights, but I'd actually classify it more as a fear of falling.

I also have a fear of snakes. Slithering, scaly things. *shudder*

Hydrophobophobia-Fear of rabies

I got bit by a lab rat, and accidentally cut myself with the scalpel blade while dissecting a cat. Then few months later the flu got me, and the symptoms matched some of those of a rabies victim. Two friends managed to convince me that I was dying from rabies lol. Now I am still scared because I got a bite mark (didn't puncture) from an opossum not too long ago.

Arachnophobia, Claustrophobia, and whatever phobia is associated with the fear of being alone.
