Underage Drinking - Page 3

I started drinking when I was 16 so it's safe to assume I think it's ok.

EDIT: Just to clarify 16 was when I started drinking fairly regularly. I was introduced to drinking when I was about 11-12 as my dad would give me a glass of beer or two on a Friday night if we were watching the footy and mum was out. I was 15 when I first got properly "smashed". My mum and dad had just split up and I was away with my dad for the weekend but he an my uncle went out so my two cousins (one older, one younger) encouraged me to just get drunk so I did. I drank 10 beers and two cans of rum that night. I passed out in the bushes and my aunt and cousin found me and put me to bed in a caravan. I woke up not long after and threw up all in the caravan, lol. I have a pretty high tolerance to alcohol these days, though I am 26. On a good night I can drink a carton of beer (24 cans) which will get me drunk, but not totally smashed to the point I can't walk or I don't know what I'm doing.

Lol, I'm Australian and on my dad's side of the family I have strong Irish heritage and on my mum's side I have German heritage. I was destined to drink having Australian, Irish and German blood in me. xD

I definitely like to drink, haha. I tried alcohol the first time when I was... 16? Just a sip of Rum and Coke. I liked it and wanted more, but my parents didn't like that idea. Then I recently started drinking with my stepbrothers, basically drinking whatever we could find. Even my first time getting "drunk," I was only tipsy while my brother was passed out in the corner of my room. We had the same to drink that night. :L

Even more recently, I've gotten smashed for the first time. I don't remember much, but apparently we went through four shots of vodka each, a beer each, we were supposed to share a cup of rum but I downed the whole thing (it was a smaller glass), and we shared a full bottle of wine.

Yeah, I probably have a developing drinking problem since I crave that smashed feeling again, so my opinion on this matter probably doesn't hold much. But, I don't really mind underage drinking. Hell, even when I thought "I never want to drink EVAR" as a kid, I thought the drinking age could be lowered without horrible consequences.



Found out I've got Irish roots on both sides of my mom's family, as well as a definite German from my dad's.

I would rather people wait till they met the age limit on drinking alcohol....

if you guys want to be messed up really bad, let an apple rot slightly and try to eat that XD. The sugar in the apple ferments and become alcoholic. I'm not sure if it's entirely safe to eat, but I've seen videos of animals who have eaten them and gotten drunk.

I really don't understand the appeal of binge drinking. Drinking solely to get drunk is stupid. Why can't you go out and have a good time with a clear head? Why do you have to be smashed?

I drink cautiously. I hate the taste of beer, wine, most spirits, ect. but I do like scotch, and scotch + coke is the only thing I drink. I've seen too many bad things happen because of alcohol, so I AM kinda wary of it.

Honestly I agree with you. Yeah I also don't have too much experience but I know a lot of teens that drink and are being hurt because of it. I know these three guys that are 14, 15, and 14. These three got drunk and where throwing up uncontrollably in the lunch room at the highschool. When i saw this i couldn't describe the mixed feelings i had. Anger. Pain. Sorrow. It bothered me how they could be so stupid and careless...they got kicked out of school and I'm not sure what the cops did with them but they pretty much screwed their future. It's their decision so it doesn't bother me too much seeing that was pretty terrifying.

Plus, what good does alcohol give...i have a few friends that have tried it and say that it tastes terrible. All alcohol does is damage your body...

I agree with captain boo that alcohol brings nothing positive so it should cease to exist...

I just find alcohol is extremely dangerous to have in society. It causes unnecessary deaths, and some serious problems have ensued because of it. I understand it's a "social" thing, but I'm rather opposed to it because of how horrendously dangerous it can be.

A lot of people argue that "it's the people, not the alcohol," but I don't really think that that's a fair argument, it's like saying that no cars should be engineered for safety in case of crashes just because it's the "people's fault" they got into a car accident.
