I drive trains.
I don't like them really. Sure they are awesome bits of machinery and I respect them, but I don't run around taking pictures or looking up info about them in my free time.

In Australia trainspotters are called Gunzels.
I have had Gunzels take photos of me at work so many times you just get used to it and stop paying attention to them.
Best one I saw was 50 people at a station taking a picture of us as we went passed. They had cameras, videos cameras, boom mics and everything. It was amazing I even took a picture of them taking a picture of us.

Every time my girlfriend says she wants to go to Sydney and starts looking up train timetables all I say is "*bleep* that, why do you think I have that" as I point to my car in the driveway.

Long distance Plane>Train.

By short I meant in my city.
I only get on my bike for fun in the bush. It's not what I would use as transport.

10km 15 minutes in car.
But my city is hilly. No way I would ride a bike instead. Takes way too long.

I'm really ambivalent about trains. Sure, they're nifty, they get you from A to B, and all that stuff. When they're late though, ugh. I hate late trains.

I used to have a few friends who loved trains. I'd hang out with them, and all they'd ever want to do is ride around on trains, going around the metropolitan network again and again and again and again and aGAAAH!

I just don't understand it. They'd constantly take photos, videos, ect. They'd lord over pics on their computers as though it were porn...

I'm guessing that most of y'all aren't like that though.

its funny though. i remember when i used to get pissed off when the trains in sydney would come ten minutes late (or more). now with the swedish busses, because they are usually spot on, i get pissed off when they are a minute late!

and no, i dont see the novelty to trains. i do fangasm over aircraft though. i would never pick first class or business class over a window seat in economy, if i can see the wing. a few rows behind the wing root is where i always choose to be, and my face will remain glued to that window for the duration of the flight.

the only time you'll see me near a train is if I throw myself in front of one...

also, its fun to watch people shit themselves when they think they are going to crash or something. i had the...honour...of being on a plane with some guy a few rows back who was absolutely terrified of flying. i could barely contain myself.

HAHAHA ! Nah thats just funny. I went to Greece with my mate and he spent the whole time telling me how we were all gonna die LOL.

And i dont panic on planes, rather I dont show it anyway. But inside i am petrified beyond belief. In any case i know how illogical it is to fear flying, especially when i drive motorbikes but i cant help it. I hate heights in general.

And in any case its your god damn right to laugh at scared people and their illogical fears. I laugh at scared drivers out on the road all the time. Hell i laugh whenever my GF sees a spider.
