	It's just one step further from people who like to camp outdoors all the time. Nothing wrong with it really. If anything, I think the technology has hurt us nearly as much as it has helped us. -------------------

	The Amish entrap their own children. They teach them no skills whatsoever for getting by in the modern world. When they grow up and try to leave, they end up homeless or involved in crime. Then they come back to their Amish community and say, "The elders sure were right; it's hard out there. This is the better way to live." It's setting them up to fail. I think there's a lot of ignorance surrounding the Amish, people tend to think they completely cut themselves off. But they still have a lot of modern technology in their communities. 	Mneh, In a way i have a strange respect for some aspects of Amish life. When im feeling stressed I often daydream of leaving the modern big city rat race behind and moving to a Pacific Atol somewhere to become a fisherman and live the simple life. Ahhhh, mental relaxation. So i cant be too disrespectful about these people living basically and simplistically. There is a simplicity and honesty to it that i respect, and also a greater sense of true freedom not bonded to modern culture or technology. At least on the surface their is. I know they have their problems. However the child in me really wants to ride around their town past all the doubting teenagers on my motorbike, blasting tunes from my Ipod saying: "Weeeee, aww coooool. Aww this is so much fun, im having a blast Yaaaaaaaaay" Yup. Childish.

Like you mentioned hiigaran this problem exists within all religions and infact many atheist/agnostic families aswell. I assumed we were commenting on the Amish specifically and their differences in comparison to other belief (or lack of) systems. Unless we just want to answer every single religion thread with the same recycled points for other threads i guess. <-- Not a dig, i just mean we non believers tend to repeat ourselves alot.
