All I'm thinking is not digging to deep of the meaning of the word, and just take it as a sort of gratitude, compliment of your helpfull deed, or whatever.

Would they care to debate on the mere meaning of that word, would they even give a damn, all they know it's what it basically means, just a funny or cheerful way to greet people, even though, she could say Gals/Girls, instead of Guys, because that would imply those girls are all men, but seriously, who would give a shit?

It's not meant something bad by it, one that thinks like that needs to lighten up if they take offense, or start thinking to deeply about it into details for what a certain word stands for.
