Of course some people will be like "hur ruins Loungin'" but it's not like it would stay there if it flops.

I should start posting some creative threads with my *bleep*ed up/dumb mind too. A lot of the threads have just been really stale.

That and I miss the old topics that Loungin' used to have. Stop focusing on game threads, funny pictures thread, etc. and try to create threads that carry discussion on topics worth reading about.

This is exactly why Loungin is dead. There's no actual reason to read and nothing to comment on that I can't do through other sites. The only threads that are still active are the shit ones that have been somehow kept alive across the years [See: Mod Hurt n Heal, True or False, Corrupt a Wish (isn't that dead?), Photo Album, Videos for the Bored, and
Suggest a Subforum]. Even on the front page there are rarely any threads that get past two pages, and those that don't get past two pages are just mostly composed of shitposting anyway.

If I want to talk to someone, I'll use Skype or Facebook. If I want a laugh, I'll go to 9gag. For news, there's msn.com and other sites (or a newspaper le gasp). 4chan has many boards for different interests and I occasionally use the /vg/ general threads. Even /b/ isn't so bad.

There's just not a whole lot of reason to bother with Loungin these days. Hell, I only actually read the 'Couch Co-op' thread out of twenty some threads and compared to a couple years ago, I'd have read at least 5 or 10 on the front page alone and gotten a good laugh.

DC Sniper: The reason why Loungin' isn't as 'great' as it used to be is the members. People post here because the members they like to see post here as well. There aren't as many members contributing and keeping the place going. Many of the 'best' posters have either been banned, got bored with Neoseeker, had stuff come up in their lives that discourages them from posting, and a bunch of other issues. The only reason the topics are lacking is because there aren't as many members who give a crap to post them. Sure, maybe those members can talk to each other on Facebook, Skype or whatever, but it's not Neoseeker. Many people find more fun in posting amongst a large group of people rather than with just each other. I know I do.

If those discussions have been kept alive for so long probably means they aren't 'shit'. Sure, some members may not favor them, but if they've been going for this long then that obviously means members like the threads and they want to continue posting in them. Isn't that's what this is all about?

I've been a regular in this forum for going on six years, actively posting in other threads and watching how others post. The discussions you mentioned that don't get past two pages aren't because the members are 'shit posting'. I think that's a little harsh to be honest, because I know there are many people out there who just want to see some of those threads succeed. But because of the lack of others wanting to contribute as well, the threads die early.

Every problem always leads back to one issue: the amount of members and the amount who care.

The only thing us Loungin' mods can do is bring the community closer like it used to be and hopefully encourage others to help us do the same. We've got our fair share of solid ideas but it takes forum-wide contribution.

To me, it seems that it's hard to come across a unique and interesting topic that hasn't already been discussed.

Sometimes when posting a "new" topic, it's likely to have been brought up before and a few members just respond with something along the lines of "Oh, this thread again..." and such.
Then there are those posts that drive the thread in a bad, unintended direction, which always kind of sucks for some threads.

If you bump an old topic that interests you, members go "lol necromancy" and leave it at that, so the topic quickly dies again.
Of course, a lot of threads that were created before I joined are actually kind of interesting, but the topic dies quickly after a bump.

From what I've seen, anyway.


I'd like to generate nice and interesting topics, but I'm a pretty boring person tbh, and I'm normally out of the loop with the outside world (that sounds a bit sad, haha), so no news from me. I like to add onto current conversations as well, but I sometimes have a hard time adding to the conversation, especially in a topic I know little about.

IMO loungin' was great when not logged in, The Supreme Extreme, and Edgefan246 posted here. But now they've all been banned, and it seems like nobody can make topics as hilarious as them.

Isn't it more preferable to create a new thread for questions rather than just redirecting people to the Helpdesk?
The helpdesk is a silly thread anyway
