Tips for 1st Office Job? How to impress boss?

I finally got my first office job at 21 years old. I start next Monday. I own about 8 dress shirts, 10 dress pants, 1 dress jacket, 1 watch, 1 belt, 1 pair of dress shoes, 5 ties, 2 tie bars/1 tie chain,1 white pocket square and several black dress socks.

I really want to set a good first impression: come in early, stay late, do the tasks no other employee wants to do, take the initiative, come prepared, ask questions, 80 listen/ 20 talk rule, learn the company's past business, find out information online about our company, take a notepad and pen everywhere I go, use the 'sir' and 'mam' language, stay organized, take work home with me, etc. I have never touched drugs, never touched smoking (pot or cigs), and I rarely drink (about once a month). I am blessed with this job that I have desired since college and I do not want to blow it. I am even debating moving closer to work, so I am in walking distance. However, I do not want to move closer to work for about 1/2 year, to make sure I love my job (I now drive 32 miles to work one-way).

Any comments appreciated. Thank you.

***I have also never taken any days off (sick, funeral, etc.) for any of my past jobs.

But yeah, I think the most important thing is that they like you as a human being. All the knowledge and the expertise you can apply to the job, means nothing if you don't jell with the people you work with.

In college, I was an education major at one point (teaching elementary, middle, physical education and special education; could not decide). So my people skills, to my belief, are outstanding. I worked at an elementary after-school program, North Dakota School for the Blind, and have worked at a hotel (which is definitely a people-job lol). I have also volunteered as a Sunday School teacher, teaching K-3 for three years and teaching 4th-6th for one year. I know these are teaching kids and not adults, but anything helps right?

Haha, its funny you said 'bribe with cakes' because it looks like I needed an excuse to go see the HR department anyways (that would be a stunning young lady to see)

As for sports, I don't know much about sports. Although, I do love baseball.

At my work the brown noses are offered trainers jobs even though they have less then 10 years experience.
But guys with 20, 30 or more years experience who are outspoken are denied trainers positions.

My theory is get promotions on your merits and not because you kiss ass.

By the way if you are a kiss ass to your boss your colleagues who don't kiss ass will hate you.
