You realize that that is also the main goal of human kind? It's to reproduce to pass on genes and ensure the survival of our species. Of course, that's with religion being taken out of the equation, a discussion I really don't want to go into.

When you bring up the human point, the keyword is basic. The human race does much more than survive and reproduce. An example would be innovation. Humans want change for the better, a thought that an insect can't even comprehend, despite being simple.

Well, in actuality, this innovation is nothing more than a slightly more complex version of adaptation. Which most, if not all, of the animal kingdom does. Granted the human race does advance even when not required, but at the same time, I don't think that makes us any better than, say, a jungle cat. Everyone and everything has a basic way of life, from which most don't stray. However, I mean, there are a lot of ways you could go with this. I could argue both sides, but in the end, I choose neither simply on the grounds that I don't consider it. I mean, it does feel pain, yet, you are correct in that it has nothing new to contribute to us. However, under that same logic, murder is cool, too, if the victim is the scum of the Earth. So... Whatevs.

tl;dr version:
Yes, humans are more complex, but that doesn't necessarily put them above everything else.
