	Log in to remove this sponsored message So the other day, I was at the pub with my mates and fancied a smoke, we went outside and sparked up in the cold and rain and it got me thinking. Is there that much harm in cornering off an area in a pub for smokers which is inside? I mean you'd obviously go into the pub in the non-smoking bit, but if you fancied a smoke, you could just go into a separate room out of the way of the non-smokers and the typical crappy weather in the UK. Like I said earlier, is there any harm in this do you think? Just to say, I don't have the intention of making this thread as a "why do people smoke?" sort of thing, just to clarify. It's merely an observation I noticed, and fancied people's opinions on it. -------------------

	The room would have to be completely sealed off meaning two doors like they have in banks(like an airlock) and have a fan vent in the room, because non-smokers don't want your carcinogens from second-hand smoke entering their lungs and killing them. ------------------- sneekyweezel's★channel

	People would complain way to much. I don't find a smoking section to be a big deal if it is closed off. But getting rid of those sections is a way for them to try to get people to quit smoking. 	As said, the room would need to be completely air tight. Personally I wouldn't go to pubs if they still allowed smoking in them.

The other way of looking at it though is that the ban has drove many pubs to extinction as their number of customers declined, to a large extent in some areas. 	You would still be able to smell it, just like you could when some places did have a separate smoking area. Sucks yes, but I'm okay with it. I don't smoke near people who don't like it, even if it's outside. It's like farting in someones face.

	I'm not a smoker but I still think it's bleeped that smoking was banned in pubs. It's a bleeping pub ffs! I'm not sure I'd describe it quite like that. Would need quite a high concentration for that! Personally, I think we're being a bit dramatic with the ban in some cases. I mean, how long have people been smoking in pubs for? I still remember a time when I was sat in Hungry Horse and the tables either side were smoking a helluva lot more than they were eating. Similarly, in China Town, in a mid-market restaurant, I remember a couple adjacent to us smoking. It wasn't pleasant but it wasn't going to kill me either. It may have made the food a bit less enjoyable but it's nothing worse than walking past a field of burning tyres or someone letting off a nasty fart in a lecture. ------------------- Eats, shoots and leaves

	Quite a few pubs I've been to and still go to when I'm up town in London actually have a separate room for people to smoke in there if they want to when the weather is crap. Why would it have to be air tight? The main doors and side entrances aren't air tight and the window isn't always shut so it could easily work without intruding all the people who don't want the smell. In the pubs I'm referring to, they have the main pub, then the room for smokers is like 2 rooms away from the main area, it's hard to explain but it works well, no issue.

	Yes but who's telling? It's been like that for years now and if it was such an issue all the non smokers would have complained by now. Sort of goes to show that it could work without causing an uproar just the way the law is set means that the large majority of places just don't.

	I hate it when people smoke in pubs, the places fill up with smoke and its just horrible. 	You don't have those? Most pubs here have a place for smoking that's outdoors but still has a roof and good shelter from the rain. It's about what the pub owner is willing to spend.

	A canopy and some outdoor heaters for the winter and you your fine, been to a few posh pubs that have that setup. Have to say i don't mind going outside for a smoke. Nice to get some air about you if it's packed inside a club or whatever. That said the smoking ban was in effect when i started being allowed in to pubs and whenever i go abroad and can smoke inside it's still bleeping cool. -------------------
