	Log in to remove this sponsored message Would anybody that has or has had an HP vp17 monitor mind explaining to me what cable plugs into the input labelled "audio in" or, barring that, why the hell a monitor would have built-in speakers but no way of carrying audio(having this mysterious RCA-sized but not RCA-using "audio in" port, a VGA input, and a DVI input)? ------------------- PS Vita General Forum

A headphone jack is too big, and I think it's most likely broken, but I would just like to know that it actually did something in the first place, since the product's listing on HP's website didn't list an audio port on the list of inputs. ------------------- PS Vita General Forum

	could be a proprietary audio jack. HP have been known to use those kinds of methods within their computer, so why not outside of them, too? -------------------

	its for a headphone jack type plug thou you might need a smaller one that fits,thats how my moniter works to get sound through the speakers. but I dont have it connected they dont go loud enough. But Its 3.5 mm im pretty sure dont know why yours doesnt fit or is smaller.But if your moniter has speakers id expect that to be there. edit try 2.5 mm im guessing thats what yours is and your trying 3.5 mm Edit: Jun 19, 12 7:59am -------------------

	The only cases I've seen jacks smaller than 3.5mm have been in the case of microphone/headset ports, but I don't imagine that's the case. You could submit a help ticket to HP, couldn't you? They'd know better than anyone. ------------------- Anime\|Games\|PSN\|Newgrounds\|deviantART

If worse comes to worse, you can always just buy a cheap 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter. It actually is 3.5mm and headphone jacks do work, the port is just placed so awkwardly that it's a struggle to plug the damn thing in. Speakers are really quiet, though. 	depends on what kind of performance you are referring to. something like gaming performance would not suffer, but loading times, or the time taken to start up a program might be affected. however, these days, that kind of performance drop is minimal, if it exists at all. youll be fine. if you do want to clean up some junk regardless, download CCleaner. -------------------
