	Log in to remove this sponsored message source quote Special clothing which cleans the air around the person wearing them has been unveiled at a science festival in Edinburgh. Catalytic Clothing, in the form of air-purifying jeans and kilts, are on display as part of the Edinburgh International Science Festival. The clothes are treated with titanium dioxide which acts as a catalyst, which cleans the air. Air pollution is neutralised by the clothes as the person walks. With the help of sunlight, the catalysts neutralise the dirt from the air pollution around the person. UV light The clothes could be launched on the market in 2013. Artist and designer Professor Helen Storey, from the London College of Fashion, and polymer chemist, Professor Tony Ryan, from the University of Sheffield, are behind the project. The technology is already used in concrete and the surface of buildings to help keep then smog and pollution free. The Edinburgh International Science Festival runs until Sunday 15 April. Seems to be an interesting development, clothes that clean the air. Certainly would help people in China, they might actually be able to get rid of thier smog problem. Doesn't mention how much pollution it will offset though TBH. Would be a shame if it only offset the amount of CO2 that a shrew or a mouse breathes out in a day.

	It could help in Los Angeles, seeing how there is a lot of cars and there is some oil refineries around my area where they send out pollution towards my house every night.

	Depending on the cost, and frankly it sounds pricey at the moment, it could be great for cleaning the air up around the world. 	tbh i doubt the material would just be limited to clothing. it has other applications such as being used on chairs and seats, curtains... pretty much everything that uses fabric somewhere.

Good point, the first concern that I had was the price tag for such garments. If it's too expensive people won't spend their hard-earned money on these things.
