Fine bit of ignorance from you there. Saying the Football Forum is full of swearing, and that it would be laughable for a regular there to complain about swearing in a header, does not mean I look down on the forum.

Not quite sure how I was being ignorrant but whatever. I don't care if you look down on the forum or not but saying that a certain topic is ridiculous being brought up by a member of a certain forum shows no respect for members of that forum, in my opinion.

But, I digress. The Loungin' header is more clearly a joke (not just because it's in comic form mind you, haha), and it does represent the more relaxed atmosphere that Loungin' has compared to most forums. Obviously nobody is condoning the abuse of women, and anyone who seriously thinks that really needs to take a step back, chill out, and go do something more productive. Do I personally find the header funny? Eh, not really. I get the joke it's going for, but it isn't too terribly funny. That said, due to its questionable nature from some parties, it did go through the approval of the supers before putting it up, and that's something that the football forum's header didn't. Anytime something may be questionable, it can't hurt to make sure it doesn't tow the line too much before moving on it. It happens though, and when it does, it usually isn't too big of a deal.

If you require further clarification on why one header isn't allowed, but another one is, feel free to take it to PM with me. I understand that sometimes reasons aren't explained as well as they should, and confusion is usually the result of it. If that's the case, then I apologize, and will do what I can to help you see the justification. Don't keep posting in this thread about it though.

I don't agree whatsoever with what you've said about the rationale between allowing/not allowing each header. You know both are jokes yet the one where the wording is clear to literally everyone who comes onto the site is allowed? Its clear to myself and I'm sure others that the header here is more likely to offend then the football forum one. It's not like the football one created an issue with existing/new members whereby they feel left out. Granted neither has the Loungin' one, however I believe no consistency has been shown whatsoever.

and about 'DON'T PUSH IT' because we already have leniency... Have you seen 95% of the crap in this forum. We both have leniency, this forum more then ours I'd say, though that is besides the point. And to what I'm assuming is you joking/being sarcy; when you add PQTE to the filter, how about adding bitch .

Maybe the header is the reason for the huge difference between the amount of male and female members in this forum eyyyy.

fwiw the age thing is aloud of rubbish because each and every forum is available to view by anybody who registers on the site therefore it should not be based on the average forum age.

So who complained? Which member complained? Or was this just Supers saying "we cant have that, a group of members passionately discussing something and ignoring crap and irrelevant posts..... thats just not on, they dont do that in loungin', they just do quite the opposite, which is just the way we like it."


Oh, and #PQTE is so similar to the tagline in the Thinkers Lounge header.

The tagline "for the educated mind" is quite frankly more offensive to me than pqte. It's basically like saying "if you're stupid, please leave".

Yeah. There's no formal list, bar the basics (porn like you said, advertising, spamming etc.), it's down to the mods of each forum to chalk up a list of rules for that particular part of the site. I basically just meant to say there was not a zero tolerance to swearing here.

It was ignorant because you either didn't read my post properly, or you just assumed I was insulting the football forum.

I'm not being deliberately disrespectful to Sam or any of the other members, but complaining about the word bitch in a header of a forum he doesn't even post regularly (if at all? I don't know exactly) when he won't care in the slightest about the swearing that goes on in the football forum, is ridiculous. I'm not trying to make it sound like there's loads of swearing in the football forum, before you jump to that conclusion.

Fwiw I rarely post in either though more so football for sure. This whole thing is about consistency though.

That's fine dear. Just showing that for people saying we're taking things too far and being hypocrites, we can be a lot more "ridiculous" in terms of what we do.

DjedwardSmith - Don't feel like picking out things to quote, but let's see: I'm glad that you understand the reasoning behind it, because I was afraid the point was lost somewhere. That said, I still don't understand how you think there is a real case here. The two "issues" are directed at two separate things entirely. One is in regards to a community and a motto that has begun to represent it, while the other isn't even related to the actual forum and its inhabitants. I honestly don't see how anyone can think that they're one in the same, and that may be the reason why I've been unsuccessful in my explanations.

I don't see what you mean by the exclusive community that thrives here, as Loungin' over the years has done well to keep an open mind when it comes to new members. Obviously there are members that come and flood the forum with useless comments, and in response to them annoying some of the regulars, they are occasionally targeted, but the Loungin' mods do well to keep that at a minimum and stamp it out. That said, they don't make a running joke about it this supposed elitism that only a few seem to think exists.

Sam - That's fine. I've go no problem having the responses publicly displayed, but the reason for requesting any future queries regarding the issue going to PM was because it really doesn't need to be discussed for pages in the RFS of Loungin', haha.

Read what I said above about what the two things are addressing. That's a huge difference here, and definitely something needs to be kept in mind. Loungin' has a relaxed atmosphere, and does get away with a little bit more than the average board due to the nature and goal of the forum, but nowhere near as much as the football forum (and that's due to it's nature -- it's supposed to be more like a pub almost, kinda relaxed and a nice place to shoot the breeze and talk about everything going on in the football world -- that said, we won't allow any sign speaking of exclusion on the door for those that enter the forum, joking or not). The header reflects this with its obvious joking nature. I really hope you and everyone else seriously don't think we condone any sort of physical abuse, and if anyone actually does think that, then they've got a whole bag of issues that need addressing. I hate to call anyone names or make inappropriate comparisons, but for people that seriously believe the Loungin' header is giving off such a message, you're about as bad as PETA.
