Concealed Handgun Carry in the United States (COME JOIN THE PARTY!) ...And apparently illegal recreational drugs too!

I have a license to conceal a firearm. Last night I had a little incident where I went in a store and some old lady saw my firearm printing out a little bit through my shirt and freaked out.
I explained to her I had a license to carry my weapon (since I know now I can't deny having a firearm on me) and proceeded to buy my stuff and exit the store immediately.

Are people really that scared of guns?

Alright I'm typing an update to this post. It seems that all the people BASHING me are from England. Well, let me clarify something for you guys:

I don't live in England. I live in America. The best country in the world? Doubt it, but it's where I grew up and it's where my family lives. I want to be close to my family, if I didn't I would have moved to... well obviously a country with a must lower crime rate than us.

I would like NOTHING more than to eliminate all guns from the face of the earth. I would like nothing more than to go toe-to-toe with an attacker, but unfortunately, it does not work that way.

I have had 3 break-ins in my life. In all incidents the robber was shot, 2 out of the 3 were killed and 2 of them were armed with GUNS.

I conceal because like I said, I would rather HAVE IT and NOT NEED IT, than to NEED IT and NOT HAVE IT. If I'm armed and you come at me with your hands, I'm not going to pull my weapon on you. If you come at me with a bat or similar object, or with a firearm, I'm going to pull my gun out because I'm not going to risk getting seriously hurt or KILLED just because I want to prove that I have a pair (and yes people, I do have VERY big balls).

I would consider living in England but soccer doesn't interest me and I can't be around people that smoke and have yellow teeth and say "mate" all the time and I can't be in a country that obviously gives the bad guys more rights than its citizens.

No, I don't have respect for an inanimate object and I can't believe you're puzzled by her behaviour...

You don't need to carry a gun around with you at all. I'm all for the idea of somebody keeping one in their house in-case of intruders but that's about it.
