War... with friends

I'm confused, and managed to get myself into the middle of something and now I need help. Damn my caring for people! lol.

Anyways, one of my best friends has been dating this girl for two years. There 2 years would have been this month, but she broke up with him, for no reason a couple days ago. Anyways, he's been pissed at her. He told me not to talk to her anymore.

On the other hand, I've talked to her too. She said he's being immature about the whole thing, which quite frankly, he has. She said to stop talking to him.

I'm at a loss here. I love them both, so I'm not sure what to do. What would you guys do in this situation? Have you been in this situation, and care to share the results of what happened?

You're taking sides. Stop. Their problem is their problem, not your problem. Helping people is one thing if you help both people equally- not taking sides because YOU think one party is being unfair.

Pretty much this. I was in a similar situation a couple of years ago where a friend from middle school was dating a friend of mine from high school. Let them both know you're there for them for whatever they need, but don't let them know you're also talking to the other person. Being the peacemaker sucks sometimes, but you're in a special spot where if there's anything still there between them, you could help them realize it and try to work it out.

I agree with DC Sniper in this one. It's not worth jeopardising one of your friendships by taking sides. Tell each that you're going to keep speaking to the other one and if they can't deal with that then it's their own problem. Sooner or later they'll realise it's not worth giving up a friend by forcing you to take sides. Be there for both of them.

The important thing to do now is to not fall into the smack talk that they'll undoubtedly be saying about each other to you. You may have to say something like "Look, I understand you two have issues with each other but I'd prefer if you didn't bring me into it. I like and respect you both as friends so please don't ask me to pick sides"

Talk to other friends. Please tell me you have other friends right. .-.

When my mate broke up with his gf last week she started asking me all these questions about what he was doing, who his new GF was and why they broke up. I just said, Has nothing to do with me, I am not getting involved. She said sorry and now its all good.

You need to just tell them it has nothing to do with you and doesn't affect the way you act or who you talk to.
