Refresh rate of a hdtv for gaming?

I had no idea where else to post this, but basically I'm buying a new tv soon and I need help.

I play 360 a lot, and in my living room we have a 50" 720p Sanyo tv which has a 60hz refresh rate, and it's terrible for playing Black Ops or Guitar Hero on because of screen lag. I was planning on buying a 32" LG 1080p hdtv, also with a refresh rate of 60hz. Would I still get this same lag or not? Any suggestions for a good 32" hdtv?

I played on a 55' tv with little to no lag because of the tv. It was all in the connection in the rare occasion I got lag. (now I jsut don't play because the 360 broke)

But the tv listed should be fine.

The screen lag sounds like a problem with your TV rather than anything else, as the refresh rate should never be a problem really. What you really need to look into is response time, for example LCD TVs have a slow response time generally unlike plasma TVs.

The response time of the one I'm looking at is 4ms, should that be fine?

It's actually the case that larger screens have larger response times for LCDs at least. Also, 5ms would be very very fast for an LCD screen, I'd expect around 20ms in general, with some going up to 80ms even which obviously just isn't suitable for gaming. The refresh rate isn't a problem for anything except motion blur, as the human eye only takes in images at 23Hz anyway.
