I went to the G&A Requests forum once, hoping someone could make me a sig (the same one jbh uses today, I believe). I saw the hugs ass warning in the forum header and made my request abiding by the rules. It was made a bit later and I was pleased. I then went into one of the GDs of a forum I visited asking why the harsh rules in the G&A Request forum. I thought it was because of a shitstorm of people giving vague requests or just screwing around with them. I was basically told that the system has always been in place and it works. Bottom line, it works.

Exactly . To be honest, the big ass header was put up there as a bit of a joke, but we kept it anyway.

Chirovette, I don't care if the ban system seemed harsh, if it wasn't in place you'd still get to this day people not following the format and the artists not having a clue what to do. Prior to the graphics request forum was set up, we went through various systems of taking out requests for whoever wanted them. None worked. At one point I remember we had a list of artists who were up for doing any request thrown at them. It got a bit out of control because of the overwhelming amount of requests put to these artists. That was where the idea for a whole forum came to fruition. But the problem we had was how to lay it out, we couldn't have a specific list of members for requests for obvious reasons. Eventually the idea came about of having any member come in, make a thread stating what they wanted, how they wanted it etc. After which, any artist who felt upto it would take out their request. It was a fantastic plan, but how did we stop it from becoming the failed attempts at graphic request systems before? That was where the ban system came in. It's like discipline, if a child does a bad thing, as a parent you'd discipline them wouldn't you? Our method of discipline was via a ban. No one likes being banned, and we knew that no one would get it wrong again if they did the first time. Simples.

The rules are still in place now, though without anyone to enforce them. BUT because the ban system worked so well it doesn't really need enforcing anymore as everyone knows what to do.

I had made a request there a while before, it was made, no problems. I came back, there's some new rule I wasn't familiar with, and I get banned instead of getting a friendly heads up. Huge, huge turn off. I actually completely forgot about the incident (still never went back to the forum though) and I'm not one to hold grudges, but now that it was brought up I just remember feeling totally put off at the time.

This came as a bit of a surprise to me, I don't remember anyone getting it wrong twice. (Though I do getting a few PMs with a fair amount of abuse, not saying that was you or anything ). Do you perhaps have a link to your request? Or remember what it was called?

Oops! I default to the assumption that everyone on the Internet is a dude.

But lad or lass, that member was a pain in the royal behind, that's for true.

I remember that guy, and it was always the sad face emoticon with him. His trolling was stamped with a penchant for being miserable about everything and being a general Debby downer towards any given topic.

I think they actually changed their sex half way through. I believe he started off as a male then changed his mind and said he was a girl.

No need to PM you, windowlicker, I can tell you precisely what I will be removing from that Gestapo tirade of a threatening rule-set in one sentence:

ALL references or threats about being banned for some clerical error. I will do it tonight, along with removing that insanely threatening banner, but basically I think it is pretty clear what will go and what will stay. I will NOT allow people on this site to subjected to Nazi policies that ban for non-offenses just to make bookkeeping a little easier for forum mods and section mods.

Edit: Actually, to answer your more serious question, it is a well thought out plot, a conspiracy of one to annoy you. When I first started responding to this topic, yesterday I said to myself, "Self? What can I do to really get under Shattered Silence's skin?" How could I, I wondered, through brilliantly devious machinations post something so underhanded as to manipulate you into posting your annoyance in this thread a day after my initial responses so that it would not be obvious that you were my intended target all along?

Judging by the results, I would say my little plan worked. <Wrings hands together with an evil look upon my face.> "MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!" "MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! My evil plan worked!"
