My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic II

Anyway, there seems to be a double standard among males regarding any interest in something deemed for the opposite sex. I mean, it's somehow okay for women to like robots, action shows, or whatever is considered a "manly" interest, but it's somehow demeaning for a man to be interested in what people call "girl stuff". It's as if just seeing some other guy being interested in "girly" things threatens their own masculinity somehow. I'm sorry, but that's really a backwards kind of attitude. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic creator Lauren Faust said pretty much the same thing in response to someone calling male MLP fans "manchildren":

I didn't create this show for little girls, I created it for little girls and their parents — including male parents. It only stands to reason that adult animation fans without children may like it, too.

The belief that boys shouldn't be interested in girl things is the main reason there's hardly anything decent for girls in animation — or almost any media, for that matter. It's a backwards, sexist, outdated attitude.

Also, a blogger tried to figure out what's drawing men to like the new My Little Pony. Here's part of what she said:

The new "My Little Pony" differs in some significant ways from the old. From what I've seen of the cartoon, it's a modernized revamp with many similarities to "The Powerpuff Girls" in style and humor. And no wonder, since series creator Lauren Faust worked on both "Powerpuff" and "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends." There are six major characters, all female, big-eyed, candy-colored little ponies with names like Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, and Twilight Sparkle. I don't see why cartoon-loving guys shouldn't be fans of the new "My Little Pony," except the mainstream American culture insists that anything cute and cuddly and aimed at little girls is absolutely verboten for their demographics.
