I've got an idea that could help out the members of neo..

A health information centre.

My thinking is many people especially young people might have health concern, maybe they need information on a disease or illness

Well here is the thread to ask such as questions like:

What do cancer lumps actually feel like?

as male I check for testicular cancer but what do the cancer lumps actually feel like? I've heard they are like a little marbles.

The Health & Fitness forum is a perfect housing for any fitness, health or medical related questions or discussion.

I realised there was Forum for health and fitness, but not everyone's goes on that.

The generall neo community usually passes through loungin.

Making people aware of what to look out for especially with cancer may save someones on neo's life.

Most people who frequent Loungin' are a little less than qualified to offer medical advice, let alone any advice whatsoever. Health and Fitness maintains a decent amount of activity and the general population is more likely to pose an answer to any questions you have. Unless I'm mistaken, there are even a few resident medical students and practitioners there, most of which evade Loungin'

Regardless, Mayo. They're a highly accredited medical institution and should house plenty of information anyone could need to know on any health afflictions. Please know that diagnosing yourself through medical websites isn't advised and that they're just there to provide information.

If anyone's concerned with any testicular or breast abnormalities, they should seek immediate medical attention. I myself have been screened for testicular cancer before and it takes no effort at all.

The point of this was to make certain features of diseases aware to greater community. i understand most people here aren't qualified, but some may no certain features of diseases or illness.

Some people may be a little apprehensive to go to the health forum maybe i dunno ..

This isn't hear to diagnose, it's to give out information. Doing something like this in loungin will be helpful to a greater number of people.


Like i said, i check myself, nothing seems odd, but some people may not check. some people may not know what there actually looking out for and some of those may not want to bother looking to long for the information.

btw, those two big, sensitive lumps are called testicles. It's Loungin, gotta be safe.

Well then, what is the rest of the site for? Loungin' gets a twelfth of the daily post count, sure, but recently other folks like Rune Ripper, etc, have been redirecting people to Loungin' instead of the actual forums like Site Help which are not dead at all, even though the other 11 portions of activity are elsewhere.

The Loungin' mods have begun moving these to the correct forums because it's the right thing to do. The last five or six health problems I read in Loungin' were not even close to being answered correctly -- if they had posted in Health and Fitness, they would have gotten less answers, but they would have been correct, not fifteen useless responses involving jokes about cancer or testicles. See above.

I mean, this systematic use of Loungin' instead of forums made for the topic kills those forums, and is EXACTLY the reason I am against the idea of a General Game forum.

Want a good idea? Go to Health and Fitness. There is no reason to be apprehensive going there. People who complain about posting in Special Interests forums usually do because they find out that their typical posting style of five words per post may not cut it, and so quick move towards the clan forums or Loungin' in the hopes that they can get things centralized here. Please don't contribute to that. =(

Then spawn discussion intended to humorously discuss testicles. The point wasn't in regards to what Loungin' enjoys, it was in regards to Loungin's purpose as a forum. Health & Fitness exists soley to house and address these topics, and that's why it's suited for that location.

I will say that I think it's perfectly fine to address most subjects in Loungin, but doing so to purposefully avoid another forum is asinine. Winter1 doesn't want testicle jokes, he wants information. That just screams Loungin', right?

The point of this was to get more people involved on there own health..

A lot more people use loungin then any other forum.

Therefore more people have a chance of learning new information they may need about there own health.

I didn't want information for myself, i wanted this to be place for loungin members to get the information they may need. maybe some advice etc.

i used my question as an example. most people wont think about asking these question and going to the actual health forum.. some may just see this thread in lougin and decided to ask something on the spur of the moment

Maybe we should instead promote this idea through the facilitation of the Health & Fitness forum. Loungin' will thrive considerably with or without such a thing, but drawing attention to another forum that is less frequented could better boost the community, and is at least making appropriate use of Neoseeker's channels.

It simply makes more sense to me to build up specific, knowledge-intensive portions of the site, rather than trying to turn Loungin' into a vast, hybrid forum.
