Where Have The Years Gone?

Just a few minutes ago I made a remark about preteen boys and SRS. Then I noticed that, for any preteen boys, assuming 12 as the oldest, were to have played SRS when it was still popular and in stores and for a current platform, they would likely have to played it when they were 7.

7.

Holy hell, where has the time gone. There are people on this site who have been alive for a shorter time than my low population but largely frozen snowy nation has been fighting in a high population but largely deep fried sandy country. The turn of the century feels like it happened last year but we're already ten years into the new millenia. It still feels like Obama has just entered into office in the US, and sometimes it's hard to believe the Sarin attacks in Tokyo are so far behind now. I'm betting there's more than a few older members who have stopped and thought these things, along with wondering how many people actually saw the Berlin Wall fall on the news who visit this site...

Has anyone else recently had a moment where they stopped and thought "holy shit, I've already lived a tenth/quarter/half of my life?"

re: Where Have The Years Gone?

The one thing that sticks out in my mind from my 20 years on this Earth? Princess Diana's death.

I still remember where I was, what time it was and what I was doing when I heard she'd died. And to think, that was 12 years ago now!

You're making me feel old Mish.

re: Where Have The Years Gone?

I guess so, 21 years old, probably a quarter of my life already though I don't really think about it that much if at all. There's so much I haven't done yet I just tend to keep looking forward rather than back. It does kind of shock me when I see people I work with who have birthdays in the 1990's

re: Where Have The Years Gone?

I had one of those moments a couple of months ago and it has actually completely changed my perception on time. I used to think I had so much time to do what I wanted in life. It's just not the case. Also, when you look at how many hours an average person has in their lifetime and compare that to what you do for every hour of an average day it's scary to realise how much of your life is being stupidly wasted.

re: Where Have The Years Gone?

God almighty, Princess Di's death... I remember my mom making a whole big deal out of it, and she taped the live funeral and everything. I can remember almost every bit of it, even down to the guy who played and sang on the piano for two damn hours.

Yes Mish, I am one of those who often thinks such things, about the years going by so fast. There's one thing I often tell my friends and it shocks almost every single one of them - can you imagine that it's already been ten years since The Matrix came out? I remember that movie coming out and it was the shiznuts, talked about like no other. But when you realize it, when it comes down to it... ten years. That's something often ringing in my head.

I guess 80 is the average life? Well then yeah I s'pose, a quarter of my life went by. Yet I've missed out on so much, I feel. :\

I always think about that and something just makes me feel weird, it's an annoying feeling, the fact that 11 years of my life have went by already and I'm going to be in secondary school soon.

re: Where Have The Years Gone?

I was with some mates in a pub last night. Conversation turned to talking about the World Cup in 2002.

I remember it perfectly clearly and can hardly believe it was...

SEVEN *bleep*ING YEARS AGO!

I am still shocked to remember that the Boxing Day Tsunami happened in 2004, especially when it seems like yesterday.

Days seem to go by quick

I have vague memory's of it, I was very young at the time. I remember wondering what the hell was going on and what all the fuss was about, I didn't really understand.

When I think about all the time I have wasted on Neoseeker, I get a feeling of that. Three years now.

I remember those days, they're of great sentimental worth to me. Just like my beloved Ps1, I miss that.

re: Where Have The Years Gone?

Yeah man, shit is going real fast. I remember high school, now I'm going uni in like 6 months and going to move away from all my friends and stuff. Obviously we can keep in contact, but its strange knowing that it may be the last time you see some people again for your life.

re: Where Have The Years Gone?

My brother asked how long I've been friends with my best friend, the other day. I told him since 7th grade. I did the math and found out it's been 7 years that I've known the guy.
