Addiction, good or bad?

Addiction.

good:You will get better at what you are addicted at.
You will be the best at what you're doing.
You like doing that particular thing.

bad: Could be fatal.(see videogame death thread)
You won't stop doing it.
It will most likely get you in trouble one day.

Any other pros and cons?

It varies a heck of a lot and as he said depends on what youre addicted too

Drugs for example are lethal, cocaine and heroine are basically sure deaths

Nicotine (cigarettes, which im addicted too...) are just as bad because its really hard to quit, especiall as you get older it really gets impossible, im trying rite now and having a heck of a hard time

Work Depends, if you work in light doses and really like it then its fine if youre a worcaholic and you work a lot then it could very well lead to psycological stress

Videogames i really dont know, ive checked the death thread but it really seems like the guy had problems, i mean im pretty much addicted to video games but the maximum ive ever played was 6 hours in a row and not more

Redraven said it perfectly, people can be addicted to basically anything. When I wored in a pharmacy I knew people who were addicted to reglar cough medicine. These people were so bad they ad to have this stuff even though it didn't work anymore for them. There were many many people who were addicted to pain killers, especially the Narcostics like Oxycontin and even Hydrocodone.(Vicodin) As for sex I've never met anyone who was addicted to it. If I did I would probably be sore and in pain lol. I know you can get addicted though, people who become addicted to sex end up usually having bad relationships because they have to have ti all the time and whenever they feel like it. When they don't get what they want when they want it the get angry and possibly volatile. It's just like any other addiction...just with less of a mortality rate. (And possible more enjoyable or those of us not getting any.)

A person addicted to sex is unlikely to hold a steady relationship with anyone as the desire for sex can take over the relationship. Most of the time when an addict can not get what they 'need' from one soarce they will find another to get the fix from. The worst addicts are often Obsesive Compulsives.

Some addictions are as benign as salt. Putting salt on almost everything you eat, maybe even straight

An addiction that was unheard of about 10 years ago was the internet, aperson can become addicted to the aninimity the internet offers and it is just as bad as any drug.

I love how everyone thinks addictions are easy to break. I smoke and I have been trying to give it up. It's not easy..when i stop I get mad and I can have a hell of a temper. WHen i have 3 kids around me having that bad of a temper is not good.

Smoking has got to be the hardest addiction to quit. I smoked for 22 years before I decided to quit and it took multiple attempts at trying. Finally did do it though and I will be smoke free for a year on the first of Nov Can you believe I still crave smoke at least once a day...nasty addiction smoking is

I think you guys are get having an addiction for something and having a passion for something confused, being addicted to something is never good, while having a passion for things is not so bad because you can can stop if it starts to have adverse affects on your life.

I agree. Let's say you're addicted on carrots. If you are, you'd find them tasty and you eat them alot. They are also very healthy for you. That's a good addiction (unless you can't stop eating them!). But there are many bad addictions to. So try not to get addicted to the bad things.
